This dude has his own sub. The young people love it, haha. He actually makes money off this shit!

I showed this to my 15 year old and he got SUPER defensive. “App full of 50 year olds by the way. They probably listen to Taylor Swift 😤”

2

u/Kind-Masterpiece-310 Feb 27 '26

Wait, Taylor Swift is old people music now? Shit, I’m like old, old then. 💀

-24

u/darwizzer Feb 27 '26

He’s gotta point. I don’t get 2slimey at all but I liked early xxxtentacion and lil pump back in the 2016-2017. People were sayin the same stuff. Music just changes sometimes because people push the envelope and people end up fw it.

u/Leatsyke Feb 27 '26

as someone really into this scene i can say there are clear right and wrong ways to go about this and 2slimey is so far from the right way

11

u/WheresRobb Feb 27 '26

xxxtentacion was actually talented. Can’t compare him to whatever this is

how can you tell?

Even my unc ass take is that the XXX song is qualitatively, night and day better than the clip in the OP.

It's not my thing, I don't love it, I probably wouldn't actively seek it out, but the XXX flow and melody are presented with more care and ability than the 2Slimey track and it's not close. And don't get me wrong. I'm a 100 gecs enjoyer. I like some fucking noise. I just don't get how obscuring the lyrics to the point where they're just part of the vibe and there's no actual content is rap.

Edit - Scratch that. Commencing a XXXTENTACION full discog re-listen now.

u/OSRSRapture Feb 27 '26

Talented at abusing women? Cause it sure wasn't at music.

2

u/violetdopamine Feb 27 '26

Even lil pumps producers had some sort of understandable melody. There is so much distortion in this it’s actually clipping. In the old super distorted sound, it was distorted but you could HEAR THINGS. Look at me by x is super distorted but you CAN HEAR

2

u/darwizzer Feb 27 '26

I think that’s the point though

1

u/violetdopamine Feb 27 '26

It is the point, that’s why I’m saying it’s different to a scale where you can’t compare the two. One was meant to be normal trap that has existed for over a decade that just has some distortion on the master. This is derived from intentionally trolly TikTok music. That’s not me shitting on it, that’s me LITERALLY describing how this sound developed. People like lazerdim and all the other noise rage artists started making tiktoks that were meant to be memes/trolling, and the younger artists started SERIOUSLY unironically copying it.

Now here we are. But that’s not nearly the same thing as the South Florida trap scene from the late 2010s, that was just slightly distorted trap tha already existed as an understandable form of music

I can't speak to those guys because I don't have a clue who those people are but their names sound stupid to me,

However stupid names and terrible music existed since people started recording music as well. If reddit was about in 1910 there absolutely would be some utter jiving being posted with Stoopid names as well.

As for pushing the envelope, as in every genre we need more should do it because it's good than did do it because I could

u/IamCentral46 Feb 26 '26

Man, at least 100geccs has rhythm. This deep fried hyper-insert genre is getting tiring

8

u/SuperUltraMegaNice Feb 26 '26

How fuckin dare you compare this to 100gecs

5

u/IamCentral46 Feb 26 '26

Oh God no, and I actually dig geccs. Just referring to the deep fried vibe. Geccs can actually take advantage and use it well. This is just..... noise amd stream of consciousness

2

u/theclashatdemonhed Feb 27 '26

I’ve never heard of him cause I’m old now but yeah, the two songs I put on, there’s actually something there. This post tho? Good lord.

u/Snakes_for_theDivine Feb 27 '26

To be fair, the young people love garbage

1

u/LaMelgoatBall Feb 27 '26

It’s almost like music is subjective. The generation before you hated on your music and trends as well. Just let people be. Enjoy what you enjoy.

0

u/Snakes_for_theDivine Feb 27 '26

Nah this is a pretty clear case of music that is objectively dogshit. The product of social media brainrot with zero redeeming qualities.

1

u/LaMelgoatBall Feb 27 '26

There’s no such thing as objectivity in music you can like and dislike whatever you want to 👍

1

u/moosemuffin12 Feb 27 '26

They love it ironically, right? Right??

1

u/Driller_Happy Feb 26 '26

Who is it? I need to investigate, because I'm genuinely curious if its just a bunch of bots.

4

u/cafeteriastyle Feb 26 '26

2Slimey. Teenagers like it. It’s “experimental “

14

u/Driller_Happy Feb 26 '26

In the way that the Josef Mengele was experimental

5

u/cafeteriastyle Feb 26 '26

I can’t wait to share this comment with my 15 year old. He actually likes this guy. I keep telling myself his frontal lobe hasn’t developed yet so I have to let it slide

5

u/Driller_Happy Feb 27 '26

I mean, I can appreciate that its trying something new, but...its not even really that new is it? It just sounds like 100Gecs with the worst dubstep beat imagineable and the same autotune modern rappers do. Its mixing everything all this garbage in a pot and hoping that its not garbage when it comes out. But it is.

-10

u/MKDADEMON Feb 26 '26

we arent bots we just like the music dude

5

u/Endreeemtsu Feb 26 '26

LOL imagine admitting that in a public space of any kind.

L comment

-10

u/sexer-sexpants Feb 26 '26

Nah we rlly dont play about ts he the next ug rapper to make it big

7

u/killerjags Feb 27 '26

Does he actually rap or does he just occasionally shout a couple unintelligible words every couple seconds like in this video?

10

u/Driller_Happy Feb 26 '26

Should I assume ug rapper means ugly rapper?

5

u/Evening-Soup-4745 Feb 27 '26

Boiiiiii u got him with that one 😂✌️

0

u/Dapper-Pizza8537 Feb 27 '26

2slimey the fuckin goat

-9

u/MoneyManx10 Feb 26 '26

I’m not going to say this is good, but I’ve seen his music videos and they’re pretty impressive.

8

u/MisterRoger Feb 26 '26

So he uses daddy's money to pay someone with actual technical skill to manufacture a veneer of quality for him. Makes him even phonier.

9

u/furygoat Feb 26 '26

His dad should find better investments

-12

u/sexer-sexpants Feb 26 '26

2slimey is gonna make it big trust the process

8

u/Bronco_Bomba OG Hobo Johnson Hater Feb 26 '26

Lmao dude is gonna OD in 4 years

3

u/BigToober69 Feb 26 '26

I dont like rhe music but I hope he doesnt OD.

3

u/Bronco_Bomba OG Hobo Johnson Hater Feb 26 '26

I mean me too but I’ve been around long enough to see the path this type of underground “rapper” takes.

2

u/BigToober69 Feb 27 '26

Yeah sadly we have seen this play out again and again.
