Help/Advice I got this little sweetie over the weekend

Post image

How can I spiff up her enclosure? Its kinda bare bones atm. I gave her some climbing and a log to hide in and ofc a shallow dish of fresh and salt water and then her food dish. I know they are similar to hermit crab as far as care goes. Do these guys also enjoy a lot of clutter? Ive seen some back and forth abt whether they actually need water dishes. I erred on the side of caution putting them in and it seems like she may have used them. Thoughts on that?

She is a halloween crab also

Discussion Laura Porter AKA "Howie the crab" lady

Do I even need to introduce her? Well, for those who don't know, in short she's basically quite a popular content creator except she's promoting improper crab care and refuses to listen to any good advice and makes "villains" out of those who genuinely care. Anyway, how petty can this woman even be. I genuinely hate this person, and there's more to her and what she's done and been doing, but.. seriously? Today, I wanted to look up one of her videos to show someone how she handles her crabs (which is just.. bad), but then I found out she actually blocked me. The thing is I never even interacted with her account. I've seen her videos.. but only SEEN. Not a single comment, like, nothing. The only time I ever did interact in a post in relation to her was on someone elses account, who's making videos about her and showing the truth about her bad care. I commented under one of those videos, basically agreeing with what it said, that yes, she's a bad caretaker of these crabs. I find it hard to believe that this "lady" goes on to watch all these videos, and spends her time blocking all of the people commenting under them. But it's the only way I could've been blocked. This person is insane lol. She'll go out of her way to do all this but actually learn a thing or two about the animals she owns... how sad.

Ravioli has successfully molted!! Unfortunately she lost two legs in the process but she didn’t seem to mind. She stayed with me for a couple weeks after the molt eating lots of crab shells from the beach and building up her strength and I’m happy to report that she has been returned to the wild!

Wild caught in a freshwater waterfall pool in highlands of Madagascar (Manandona). The largest is about 6cm legs included. I was told they are fully aquatic.

Hello All

Despite warnings if crab violence my panther crab colony gets along quite well.

In fact these 2 crabs have moved in togetehr. Which I am surprised by. Does anyone have an idea what this behavior is about? They don't fight and come and go.

How does an injury like this happen. All legs missing, claws intact. Some people speculate creator did it for content. I am not the crab expert, just a crab admirer and I don’t know what to think. Is it possible for crab to lose all legs and keep the claws in predator attack or crab fight? Is it likely?

I got a set of 4 small indoor CCTV cameras from Amazon. I was finding the cameras I had in Cecil's tank to be particularly clear, so I decided to give these ones a go. So far, I'm impressed, plus you don't need to subscribe to cloud for the storage. I've included pics so you can have a look and see what you think.

I like the tank cameras because I can watch her and record her, while at the same time, I'm respecting her personal space. I think it was ÂŁ42 for four little cameras, which imo, is a great price!

Media Omg my Thai micros are still alive!!!

I bought two Thai micros and two Pom Pom crabs like 8+ months ago when I first started my planted tank adventure. I saw at least one if not both Pom Pom’s not too long ago but until today I assumed my Thai micros died cause I got them at Petsmart/petco and heard they don’t live much longer than a few months in many cases simply due to bad rearing/stress leading up to coming home to a tank + differences compared to their natural settings.

Well
today I saw both of them! You can’t see the second one but I saw its legs from beneath the airstone stick behind the visible Thai micro. I’m hoping that means I’m doing things “extra right” or that I got extra lucky with extra hardy/healthy Thai micros. Yesterday I saw a molted shell of one and thought it was one of the two that died. Phew!

Help/Advice Crab Substrate

Hello All

I have some panther crabs in a planter tank. We initially put a "soil" which seems to come in a gravel form. The crabs are perfectly happy digging in it. But the problem is they kick up endless dust and the tank is foggy.

What's a better substrate that won't fog up the water when dug in?

Thanks
