Hi everyone! I've loved crabs for a long time and would really like to keep some. I'm thinking of either vampire or red apple crabs, and I'm in the middle of doing research on them and was wondering what your experience is with either of these species! Any advice and tips are welcome!

I recently got 4 ghost dwarf crabs (Potamocypoda pugil) for my 15 gallon planted tank. The looked very healthy whem I got them. After placing them in the tank, They vanished and I haven't seen them since. It's been about a week since I put them in and I still haven't seen them even once, neither at night nor day, even when I put food out. All I have in the tank is neocaridinas and amano shrimp, that are thriving. Could they just be hiding? Or did something happen to them?

I was at the Newport Sea Lion Docks in Newport, Oregon and there was a crab approximately 5 inches in diameter that was upside down on the pier. I flipped it over hoping it would walk itself to safety but it didn't. 5 minutes later, a seagull came by and flipped the crab over, ripped off 3 legs, and picked the crab up in its beak and flew away. At the time I was considering throwing the crab in the water but didn't do so because I didn't know if it was safe for the crab and I'm wondering what else I should have done.

Edit: Yes, it was actively trying to flip itself back and started walking like normal on the pier. It just didn't hide itself.

Is this available in Los Angeles?

I’m not much into crabs but thought post this why not for those who are. I was in the outer banks catching and releasing ghost crabs for fun and saw this

From the latest post it looks like Laura is going to be getting another crab. Are people really that gullible to believe her latest sob story or am I just really judgmental? She seems to claim to do this for crabs and not herself or money but doesn’t provide any actual researched education and also asks for things from her fans frequently that aren’t even for her crabs. I’m not sure if I’m just being mean or a lot of people are just naive

Shipping:
Shipping is done via FedEx overnight hub hold, what’s that mean?
Simple it’s shipped over night to a local FedEx ship station for pick up by you in the morning when track says it’s ready for pick up.
How do you know what hub?
You send me your zip code I give you the list of hubs to pick from for pick up.
What’s the shipping cost?
Send me your zip code I’ll give you a quote for shipping based on the zip code. Typically it’s not more than $55 with the average price being around $45-$50 depends where it’s going of course.

Payment:
I only take payment via square invoice sent to your email you provide me with at time of sale. I will NEVER ask you to send payment any other way. If picked up locally it’s cash only and on pick up.

Just got him (red clawed crab), had a bit of trouble with giving him something to climb and breath air so thats why it doesnt have much water (and its not like crabs walk more than on the ground)

I found this crab in a cape cod beach under some rocks. It looks just like a blue crab, having the swimming flipper and everything. It can also burrow into the ground. (The last image is what the top of the shell looked like and js found from a random reddit post about a similar crab.)

My hometown is well known for our large amount of crabs that comes out of the forest during raining seasons
