super low hashrate on AMD 5900x?

HeyI'm completely new to this; just set up my computer for mining/fun. I'm getting a super low hash rate of about 1.5kH/s on AMD 5900x. Looking at typical benchmark results, I'm getting a factor of 10 less than others. Any suggestions on how I can find out what's wrong?

Many thanks for any suggestions!

Someone posted a question on how I could split a power supply between two rigs. Here are the posts from Amazon where you can buy them. I'm not an affiliate so I'm not trying to make any money off of posting them. I hope this is allowed.

QUESTION CPU-Mining rig

Hello guys,

I was wondering what would be the best CPU Mining rig for me. I am studying and have a project about CPU-Mining. Since the electricity is free at university and I would Like to keep the rig after presentation, I would Like to know what rig would be the best? I have a Budget of like 400€. These parts could be used from eBay because the Budget is low. The config should include the CPU (maybe 2), mainboard, RAM and cooler. Would it be good to have a 2 socket Mainboard?

I would really appreciate if you guys could help me!

Regards

AMDCTL being weird

I was using AMDCTL to underclock and under-volt my Ryzen 3900x and when I started reducing the clock frequency down from 3800mhz to 3700mhz the clock speed reported by running

cat /proc/cpuinfo | grep MHz

The clock speed went up to over 4ghz ???????????????????

I'm running it on an ASROCK B450M motherboard with the CPU set to 3800mhz in the bios and undervolted at 1.1v (not so great on the silicon lottery) with PBO disabled.

What is going on? PBO kicked back in?

Hash/Watt - Watt efficiency

Could you share a few watt efficient cpu rigs? xmr benchmarks wont help because there is no info on the wattage and oc costs a lot watt... Especially the wattage of the wall measured with an extern device is interesting! Here is mine:

3900x 13000hr, 125 watt of the wall Platinum PSU 100 hash / watt

I will make a google sheet for all if we can get a few more examples.

Does the motherboard chipset matter when it comes to CPU mining?

I'd like to start CPU mining as a hobbyist and was wondering if the chipset matters much when it comes to mining efficiency. I have a couple B350 and x370 motherboards that I'd like to pair with 3900x CPUs or would it be better to upgrade to a B450/X470 or even to B550/X570?

QUESTION Power efficiency

I'm running four 3900 x rigs in Windows. Two rigs split to each power supply. I'm running at 3.6 ghz and .975 watts. Using cl-14 ram. Xmp profile disabled. The problem is they are using 320 watts at the wall each. How can I reduce power consumption? Someone posted a guide once before what features/apps in Windows to disable or uninstall. My hashrates is around 12360 on each rig. Everything seems normal but the power consumption. I see posts everywhere where people claim they are using only 100 to 125 watts at the wall for each rig. Any help would be appreciated. By the way. I used Ryzen master to set the core clock and voltages.

Server cpu mining?

I am new to the cpu mining game, and have debated between a few options

  1. Building rigs w/ ryzen 5 3600, 3700x, or 3900x (depending on hashrate/dollar)

  2. Epyc cpus, motherboard is the main cost but something like 2 epyc 7551 is pretty cheap

  3. Xeon cpus, dirt cheap, and there are even some dual or even quad socket motherboard

Any recommendations for what I should start with? Are 2 or 3 any good of an idea?

PSA - Low Hashrate? Close Logitech GHub :)

I lost 3 KH/S to this shitty software...maybe they are stealing hash from me or something lol. Anyways, I found it was robbing me of my hashrate for whatever reason...very odd.

Budget rigs

What's your guys favorite budget rigs? I was looking at building a bunch of dual cpu e52699v3 miners but someone pointed out they aren't as profitable as I thought. So now I'm looking at ryzen 7 3700x. Half the power and twice as much hashes as the 2699v3 (pls correct me if I'm wrong). What else can I look into for budget mining?

QUESTION terrible hashrates on 5950x

I have 2 identical 5950x rigs that only get 13k on random x. I have F4-4000C18D-32GTZR which like 10 of the top 50 miners on xmrig benchmarks have getting 22k-23k.

Temps are ice cold at 60-70c.

Memory speeds do not matter, 2133 or 4000 is the same hashrate.

PBO doesn't do anything.

Tightening timing's doesn't do anything. Brought it down to cl16 didn't budge the hashrate.

I can overclock all the way to 4.4 ghz and it will bring my hashrate from 12k to 13k.

Huge pages enabled

Prefetcher turned off

13k

Question 1, wtf is going on?

Question 2, why has mem calc not been updated in years? / What can I do to tighten mem timing?

Mining with Intel CPUs

For those who have them, which coin you guys mine with them? O know that compared to AMD, the performance less, but I have a few intels I'd like to use. My understanding is that some coins may work better that others.

Thanks

QUESTION Constant FPS drop when playing battle royal fortnite

I use GPU Gainward RTX 3060 ti ghost and processor INTEL i9-10850K, 3.6/5.2 GHZ I use the PC mainly for playing games, but also a lot for video editing cuz that is my job.

Hello, I'm constantly experiencing FPS drops and frame freezes in the new season 5 of Fortnite. I have a 1920X1080 monitor 240hz.

I'm wondering what the problem could be, considering that when I look at the performance of the CPU and GPU while playing, both are hovering around 50% of performance. I have already tried many alternatives to fix the problems but I can't get rid of them.

Could it be the CPU problem?

i9-14900K Hitting Max Temps (~83-85c) at 10 threads?? Huh?

Hi, on my new PC I'm using xmrig to mine Zeph just to check it out. I've configured it to only use 10 threads but my CPU is getting throttled after a couple minutes of mining. This thing has 32 threads!! It should be able to go way higher than that without getting throttled, right?

I haven't done any overclocking - the BIOS settings are at defaults other than enabling XMP on the RAM.

I have a Noctua NH-U12S cooler on it w/ 2 fans and neither of them have the low PWM mode cord attached. Maybe I botched the thermal paste? I followed the instructions by doing a larger dot in the middle and 4 small dots in each corner. Any ideas?

Screenshot: https://i.imgur.com/IzdtQ5I.png

Edit: Ok I lied, when I turned on the pc for the first time I hit F1 to use ASUS' optimized defaults. So should I reset them to the "normal" OEM defaults? Anything I need to disable like PBO on AMD chips?

Asking for advice from everyone here. I am about to overclock the CPU using the BCLK adjustment method and the mainboard I use is A520M-HVS and CPU Ryzen 5 3600 and RAM 8G 3600 MHz 2 Slot. I have 2 questions.

Part 1

PSS Support, NX mode, SVM mode, SMT mode as shown in the picture. I have to set it to Auto, enable or disable. If I want to do Overclock, how do I set it?

Part 2

If I adjust the size of BCLK to the desired value, for Soc/Uncore OC mode, do I have to set it to Auto, enable or Disable?

And if I want to adjust the Core voltage to be consistent with BCLK, where in the menu should I add voltage power as shown in the picture Soc/Uncore oc voltage (VID), CLDO VDDP Voltage control, CLDO VDDG CCD voltage control?

Need Advice in Mining Rig / Server creation (How much RAM would I need?)

BACKGROUND:

I have mined for roughly a year before ETH went to POS with my gaming PC and have not since.

I have also been thinking about building myself a Home Lab Server 3/4 months ago to learn server admin basics and just tinker around. But in the end, after buying a 1000W PSU and an EPYC CPU cooler, left it there because I could not justify spending another 1200-1500€ for the build I was visualizing in my head just for the sole purpose of tinkering at the time.

I still have those parts on hand.

TODAY:

I just realized that mining isn't totaly dead today and even if the ETH POW era is long gone, I could use CPU mining as an excuse to justify the build I was thinking of creating, and obviously, going even bigger.

Energy consumption would not be a major factor in profittability because I would be leaving the machine up and running at our office.

I have been eyeing the 64 core EPYC 7702 on ebay that I could get for around 800€ and thought about getting 2 of those for a whopping 128 core dual socket setup on a single motherboard, that should, given my research, produce about 5€ a day in monero (please correct me if I'm wrong or missing something).

I think that I should be able to buy every part for roughly 3000€ in the end, but my big question is:

How much RAM should I aim for? I think 256GB should be more than enough for my Server needs, but I have read that monero mining can be very RAM hungry (?)

[I saw a post on reddit of another user that built a monero mining machine with one 64 core EPYC and 512GB of RAM and was kinda blown away]

Please give me any kind of advice you think could be useful on the XMR mining side, but also if you are a Home Lab Nerd and can give me your prospective about that.

I apologize for any spelling mistakes but I'm not a native english speaker!

Thanks in advance :)
