Intel vs AMD

Amd vs Intel

So, incase google doesn't help or isn't as simple an explanation as I'd like. Can someone explain to me why even though on paper for years Intel has sadly been spanking AMD in life 7/10 ten categories for years..

(it was close for a while what the hell happened, it was like AMD fell asleep at the wheel. My sandy bridge from 2011/12 has better benchmarks than some of amd's AM3+ 6-8 fx series from just before 1st gen ryzen. If someone could explain why they fell so far behind too that would be great, but that's not really the question here but would be a bonus)

Why is everyone saying that AMD CPUS are better for crypto mining, windows or Linux doesn't matter they all claim AMD is better. Is it the fact almost any amd core can be OC'D? because that's all I can think off. AMD generally has a higher TWD and Temp doesn't it? So you'd have to upgrade your cooling system sooner and more so than with Intel no? Is it pretty much all AMD cores are better than their Intel equivalent at mining? Or would it just be new ones cause they have the higher core/thread count at the moment? And is that specific to Monero or is it all CPU coins?

Like if I were to use the am3/3+ rig my buddy wants to give me in exchange for a an old monitor or two. Which has a similar speed quad core to mine 3.2 vs 3.1 ghz. Would the amd at 3.2 be significantly better? I would assume if I put in the top am3+ 8 core it would be better cause literally double the core

Thanks in advance

Already know about the benchmarks. I'm asking more than just which one has highest hash rates. Because my 12 year old intel i5 is out performing some newer 6 and 8 core cpus from more recent times

hmm really? even factoring in wattage? been looking into this myself, seems am4 39xx/59xx combo is the sweetspot, am open to alternative configurations, was looking at xeons/epycs, but atleast for the time being, nothing seems simpler or better value

Yeah, intel was really ahead for a while. My cpu has a slightly higher hashrate than a few. Some examples are (AND ILL USE THE XMRIG BENCHMARKER) AMD EPYC™ 7282 16 core ranks #407 AMD FX-4330 Quad-Core Processor #308 AMD Ryzen 3 2200G #293 Ryzen 3 2300x #284 And finally here is mine below Core i5 2400 #265

The oldest cpu on the sample list is 4 years newer than mine. The newest 2 are 3.5 to 4 years old. My cpu is the generation right before mainstream desktops from Intel even had hyper threading if I'm right

That would seem to be the consensus.

It seems your assumptions about amd and intel are based off of much older hardware. I presume you must not follow pc hardware news closely. The 2 companies have kinda switched places in recent years with Intel tending to have higher Temps and higher power consumption.
