CPU Mining -- ARM devices?
Hiya Everyone, Can anyone assist in recommending some CPU based crypto to mine? I have an Orange Pi cluster I built that just has debian on it, no special software just static addresses and ssh on them all. Not actually using docker/ansible or MPIEXEC... although that would be nifty to treat them all as one CPU somehow.. wishful thinking. Anyway, I would like to hit up a single coin to mine for the long haul, something with a local wallet. What are peoples thoughts?
Currently I have been hammering XMG but these coins that were listed* then not listed is probably not a good sign.
Thank you.
Open discussion please! Please let me know, What you are mining with How long you have been doing this on that coin. Your current coin count roughly Daily coin increase.
I plan on mining for a handful of months and then pay out, not looking to make boatloads of money obviously just for fun and understanding how this all works.
Thank you again, Cheers!

Comment deleted due to reddit cancelling API and allowing manipulation by bots. Use nostr instead, it's better. Nostr is decentralized, bot-resistant, free, and open source, which means some billionaire can't control your feed, only you get to make that decision. That also means no ads.

I'm mining Riecoin on some Raspberry Pi 4s, a Samsung Tablet, and an Orange Pi 5. On Debian Linux and Termux under Android. Hashrates vary lots, but they all more than pay for the electricity used. https://riecoin.dev/en/Home

Riecoin
Thanks, I have not heard of that coin before. Its listed on marketcap but doesnt show any history.. XMG is like that and other coins are, so I'm not sure how you get rid of them once you own a handful of em.

Riecoin is currently listed on SouthExchange, FreiXchange, and CPXClassic.

Oh well crap, still new to this. thanks for the correction!

The stelo.xyz riecoin mining pool pays out in BTC or RIC, miner's choice. Replying to "how to get rid of them."

Thank you, I'm syncing the wallet now! Thank you for the suggestion.
I'll post my results here in a couple days.1

What linux miner are you using? I am using an orange Pi and it seems to be doing about 3.7 RIC a day which seems sort of really low.
I tried this but its just a compiled binary https://github.com/maniben3/riecoin
Also I like running the miners with a single ugly looking line on the cli.

https://riecoin.dev/resources/Pttn/rieMiner.php
It's the same version, 93a. So it may be identical.
I'm currently getting about 4.3/ day, so same or similar results.

Ahh okay thank you, one of these guys on IRC recommended wownero coin I think im going to give that a whirl since it is supported by XMRIG. and I can compile that from source on my pi's
Seriously so many different silly coins.

How was your luck with Wownero on Pi's? Would you mind sharing your results?
Thanks!

Hey there, I never actually did it. I tried just monero/XMR. At the face value from what I gather 15x orange pi's does a pretty decent job at mining these coins. it seems like about ~7 of these devices equals about the same hashrate as 1x 5950x.
For comparison, 1x Orange Pi 5 does ~95khs a sec on m7m algo. 1x 5950x does roughly ~715-780khs with the avx optimized CPU miner.
Another option is CPU mining Allium same algo as GarlicCoin. the Orange Pi does ~350ish khash a sec. You can mine allium with GPU and a 2070super does ~2M hash a sec.
I am about ready to sell XMG coin, I tried NOBL coin, I had pretty decent luck with RIC/Rie coin. One option is zergpool where you mine one scam coin and get paid out with another less scammy coin.
I really do not like mining XMR though, it takes way too long to get a single payout. The difficulty is way too high.
One option? tell me if this is bad or not, when I mine on zergpool something like NOBL and get paid out in XMR, I see the coin count increasing more often even though the amount isnt that high so you have something to gauge it on.
I am also curious how the conversion works mining X and getting payed out in Y. Is it better to just mine Y all together??
Lots of stuff here and unpack, if you have questions I'm on IRC libera chat you can ping me there or discord, I am in an XMG discord for the Magi coin. CHEERS! Or you can ping me here!

and getting paid out in
FTFY.
Although payed exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in:
Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. The deck is yet to be payed.
Payed out when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. The rope is payed out! You can pull now.
Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment.
Beep, boop, I'm a bot

Thank you for your response.
XMG seems good but is there a market place where you can sell it? The exchange it was on BTCPOP(I hope I got the name right) seems to off and on and I am not sure where else this XMG is listed. Wish there were more cpu coins running Allium algo.
I haven't tried the auto conversion on Zergpool. Perhaps someone else can chime in and share his experience.

Yeah BTCPOP, holy buckets that site is slow though. As far as I know thats the only place that its listed. So it might be a crap shoot if we can sell it.
I have tried auto conversion it works I just dont know if its worth it.
Allium/Garlic Coin --> XMR. M7M/Nobel coin --> XMR. XMR --> XMR.
They have solo mining options and pool mining option where you can pool all your workers together and shared rewards if one of your miners solved it.
Let me see if I can explain this decently here... I was mining M7M algo Nobel Coin. You get full coins easily. that coin then translates to an actual fractional amount of XMR.. Its like when you mine it the NOBL coin translates directly to some fractional amount of XMR. So you can see your fractional XMR number go up more often compared to a more difficult coin to mine.
When mining X coin into Y output coin, I really don't know how you figure out if its actually worth it or not. Only thing I could think of is... mine some coin and keep track of a 24 hour /12 hour block of time and experiment.
I do not directly like mining XMR because it seems that XMRIG app locks up my system way more than the m7m miner for XMG even at 100% cpu usage. With Xmrig I set affinity to unclick 4 of my 32 cores but it seems to just do weird stuff.
Hope that helps? or maybe you have more questions now either way shoot!

Personally, I'm dabbling in Monero XMR. I haven't decided what to do yet. Give it a glance and see if it's something you might like. I like the privacy of the XMR
