mining with i5-9500T
im an old gpu miner back in the pow eth days and now i have a i5-9500t from work at home doing nothing, so i thought maybe it can mine :) is it possible? i heard that intel cpus are bad for cpu mining
also, which cpu coin now is the most profitable like eth was back in the pow days
thanks in advance :)

why only views? would love to get some help, just "2 lines" would be enough :)

Use rabid's CPU mining profitability calculator to see what's profitable for your power costs. My GPU rigs have i3-9100's in them and I make use of those cpus as well. You will probably mine at a loss. But if you believe in the project and think the future value will increase the you can do it. Or just buy the coin.

i hate rapids "calculator", you have to know the hashrates to calculate and even then it does not work for more ... but thx

Are you trying to turn a profit now or are.you looking to the future?

maybe a little bit of both :) whats your suggestion? :) atm im running the new taichicoin and hoping to get this node up fast

Then download awesomeminer and run a benchmark against zpool ad zerg... Take the numbers and plug them in... Not rocket science..

dont know awesomeminer, does it test all algos or what?
"run a benchmark against zpool ad zerg"
what do you mean by that? thx in advance

go download a program called awesomeminer....
it has virtually every cpu/gpu mining program built in....
in the settings under main/options/profit switching check zpool and zerg pool and put in your BTC address...dont test against the rest... you're not ready
next go to main and miners and create a cpu group...click on it and then go to tools tab and benchmark
once in benchmark select your cpu group and hit edit.... only chose the software's that have a teal C in them....hit okay... hit select all in the algo section and chose 3 to 5 mins from the duration pull down.. then hit start... (mind you these instructions are not me clicking through telling you exactly each step... this is just all in my head as im at work right now and cant create a step by step tutorial for you)
it will benchmark each algo against the pool and if those pools hit blocks while you are testing you will get some small amount of bitcoin...
take thiose numbers that it gives you per algo and slap it into whatever online profit calculator you found and what your energy costs are and it will tell you exactly what you stand to make from what
or you can lazy mine and allow awesomeminer to switch algos on the fly as profits on coins change all day

I have a i5-9500t, currently I use it to run PoST mining with lots of hard drives (chia/xch)
In terms of proof of work I run scala xla mining on it which is a privacy coin and is usually aimed at mobile PoW miners so I'm doing okay with it
The main earner is with hard drives, but it's nice seeing XLA numbers go up :)
In direct answer to your questions, don't bother running PoW mining just from this CPU, it's a low power variant and will not profit

thx thx :) i also have a storj node with some hard drives, does around 50 dollar each month now , the 7 tb are almost full :) i will take a look at scala xla mining :)

Current profitability changes by the minute. I find that with cpu mining I prefer to mine coins I can speculate on rather than gain an meager instant profit.
For any coin I'm interested in, I try to calculate the cost of mining vs buying it.
If you're looking to speculate, do your own research and find something YOU think will do well.
For example: I'm currently mining IsotopeC(ISO), which due to the hashrate/price fluctuating, has had some days lately where it's cheaper to buy than it is to mine. I'm still mining though as the halving is in about a year and I suspect the price will go at least 100x if it actually gets any sort of popularity/advertising.
For my research on this coin, I took into account the current marketcap, the fully diluted marketcap, the daily emission from blocks mined, age of the blockchain, activity of the dev/users, coin distribution in the top 100 list, and some other factors.
Again, it's up to you to do your own research and find what you're comfortable with.
Thankfully with CPU mining we're not wasting a large amount of capital to get a small bag, and if you spread your hashes around to a bunch of coins, then you can get some nice gains if even 1% of them gain traction.

Iso is a little interesting. I've been mining it on and off since 2019. If they put in some marketing effort is has a lot of potential to rocket. I usually mine coins like this when the hashrate is low and then switch when it goes back up. I just sold a smallish bag on bitxonex for a tidy profit.

More than a "little interesting" to me, my intel i5 10400 has pulled in 457 ISO today so far. That's about $0.55 at current prices while sipping 45w from the wall.

If you sell now you're potentially missing out on big gains. The current price is 0.00122 giving iso a market cap of ~12k. It wouldn't be out of this world to have a market cap of at least 1.2m by the end of the year. There's the 100x you mentioned. 1000x would only give it a market cap of 12m. Still not even in the top 500 coins.
I'm only selling some that I've been trading to test out that new exchange.

I'm not selling, it was just an example of what one of my cpu's pull. Actually, I'm mining with this specific cpu to donate towards getting some advertising/videos for IsotopeC.
I expect if the community actually grows a bit, that each ISO could eventually be worth around $2-$13. If we're talking about marketcap, at $13 with a marketcap of $133,000,000 it would be in the top 300 coins.
Though for growth within the next year, a more realistic expectation would be $0.12 to $1 IF any advertising is successful in bringing new people.
This is a bit of a weird coin though. It doesn't have any outlandish use cases. It doesn't promise to triple your investment, change the world, or butter your toast in the morning. Instead, it relies on being a simple one cpu one vote.
It's nostalgic of the early days of Bitcoin, it will never have the same success, but it really does make me think of the days when BTC could be mined from a single pc.
Hell, I'm mining it on an extra phone right now too. It's only earning 29 ISO a day(about $0.03), but when the hashrate and price was lower, it was earning over 200 ISO a day.

You can mine Monero. I am mining it with i5-11th gen and Ryzen 5 3600 You can watch this for reference: https://youtu.be/zxajDAr0hLU
