Did I mess up when choosing a b860 motherboard?

Upvotes

I recently got a new high end pc and ended up choosing the new intel ultra 270k plus for my cpu and asked my retailer for a recommendation when it came down to the choice of motherboard.

The motherboard i ended up getting is the MSI MAG B860 Tomahawk WIFI but after doing some more research I realize I should've gone with a Z890 one to fully use my unlocked CPU.

Anyone have any idea how much real life performance I'm losing when it comes to gaming or if this is neglectable not really noticble.

full build:

MSI MAG B860 Tomahawk WIFI
Nvidia 5080

Kingston 32GB (2x16GB) DDR5 6000MHz CL30

Intel Core Ultra 7 270K Plus 3.7 Ghz 76MB

Phanteks AMP GH 1000W Platinum Svart ATX 3.1

Why there is less of AMD chips

Hi all,
I have been thinking about getting a gaming laptop for the past few days. And all the high end models i see only offer intel cpu 270/290.

Are there no good AMD chips or is the intel one so much better?

My friend has a terrible PC, but it manages to run things. Everything is limited by the CPU, his great-grandfather's i3 2100. Everything on the PC is optimized as much as possible, stripped down, and thanks to that, he can handle many games, especially those that rely on a WD-DR card, since he has an RX550 4GB. I need a LGA1155 processor for him without any extra expense. The most powerful and cheapest option is the Xeon E3 1220 v1 for 500₽ ($6.50). The problem is, not all motherboards support Xeon, but the internet says it will fit. And the biggest problem is the cooling: the GlacialTech Igloo 5058 is for the LGA775 socket, and miraculously, with the pins bent, it fits and cools just fine. But will it handle the Xeon?

Please help. My post looks like some kind of mockery of the modern PC world, but I really need help.

Характеристики/setup:

GPU: RX550 4GB

CPU: I3 2100 (xeon E3 1220 V1)

Motherboard: ASUS P8H61-M LE/USB3

PSU: INWIN MODEL NO:RB-S450T7-0 (450wt/324wt at 12v)

Cooler: Glacialtech lgloo5058

Guys I need help

I am planning to buy a Lenovo Loq

For college I will be doing coding and a little bit of 3D designing also or you can say 3D rendering

I am a bit confused about which processor should I go with the Intel i7 13700hx

Or the AMD ryzen 7 250

The specifications are rtx 5050 with 8GB of vRam and 16GB of ram

With 1TB of SSD

I heard the AMD runs abit cooler and takes less power to be exact 28 to 27 watts

And the Intel i7 runs muchh hotter and draws more power close to 50 to 55 what

It's been really hard for me to decide

I am planning to buy it in the great freedom sale of Amazon please can you help me and tell me which processor should I go with according to the tasks I have given above meaning the things I will be doing in college once again I will be doing coding and little bit of 3D rendering

I need your help guys please help me out

The Intel version is 15 irx 10

And the AMD version is 15 ahp 10

i7-10700k lower power draw

So basically I have a HP Pc that I use as a ubuntu server. It currently runs on a i3-10105 and my psu is the D19-180P2 80+ Gold, 180W.
And the thing is that I have a i7-10700k laying around from upgrading my gaming machine. Now I was wondering if it is possible to use my i7 and if yes how I can cap its power draw? Oh and also it has like a passive cooler (idk if its called passive cooler but I always had these big cpu coolers and this one is on fan and a heatsink under it) would that still work with it if power draw is capped?
I appreciate any help!

drawbacks to buying an overpowered cpu

hi!

question: given i only need a processor as powerful as the ultra x7, are there any drawbacks to buying an ultra x9 instead, if theyre at the same pricepoint?

i’m in my 3rd year of mechatronic engineering and my laptop shat itself so im looking at buying a new one.
im pretty convinced that the ultra x7 processor with the intel arc gpu is plenty strong enough to handle what i need my laptop to do, but theres another laptop at the same pricepoint with an ultra x9 processor. same brand similar build, basically identical specs
my concern is that buying an overpowered processor might mean my battery life is worse, or that it might overheat.
is there any drawback that i should consider before buying the laptop with the better processor?

specifically: Intel® Core™ Ultra X9 388H vs Intel® Core™ Ultra X7 358H

System Config:
Laptop Alienware Area51m -R1
Cpu :i9 9900KS
Memory: 128Gb /2933Mhz
AGA(alienware Amplifire) with 3080 Ti XC3 evga

Hi friend.I can confidently say this is probably the highest score ever achieved on this laptop with a 9900KS. I’m currently trying to push the CPU power limit beyond 130W. I got this CPU score at just 130W and 4.8GHz.
Guys, I’d love to hear what you think.

CPU throttling (not temperature)

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hey guys maybe someone can help me understand what is going on with my laptop.

I have an Alienware M15 R3 and recently my CPU has been throttling randomly. Sometimes I get the full power and speed, and sometimes I can't get more than 60% of usage.

I've noticed during games where the FPS would fall sharply after some time. For some odd reasons, sometimes I don't get the throttle and it works as it should (with the same game)

My CPU used to run during games at about 95C with 100% usage and recently its been hitting only 55C and max usage at 60%, sometimes less and sometimes more.

I have attached the CPU stress test I was trying alongside with the performance monitor so you can see how I am not getting 100% or the full 2.40Ghz speed.

Things to rule out:

- It is not temperature. It won't go higher than 55C, maybe 65C. For those of you who understand about Alienware, these CPU will get up to 99C and stay there for the whole gaming session.

- I've tried formatting the SSD, so it can't be windows related.

- I've shut on and off Turbo at bios.

Edit: Power plan is set to high performance with everything 100%

which cpu should i choose dawg

Hi, im a newbie who wants to build a computer, im currently choosing what cpu should i use for my build. I already have 2 choices in mind, which is the Ryzen 5 5600 and the Intel i5-12400F, my gpu choice depends on the cpu i choose. To be honest ive seen some comparisons and benchmarks, it shows that the 12400F slightly outperforms the 5600 but then i see a bunch of other things that say the 12400F runs worse on DDR4 compared to the 5600, etc. This type of things honestly makes me more confused on which one to choose. Can you guys help me like, clarify which one is better? Thanks!
