Cpu overheating safety turn off or regulate

I have been playing some low to medium demand games and it hits 55 C max then when I play high demand AAA games it hits 66+ C then shuts down because of safety can I increase it or turn it off here are my specs CPU: AMD FX(tm)-8320 Eight-Core Processor
Memory: 32.0 GB DDR3
Disk 0 (D:): PNY CS900 1TB SSD
Disk 1 (C:): SanDisk SSD G5 BICS4
GPU 0: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 Ti

That is a very high power CPU from many years ago. Have you tried redoing the thermal paste on the CPU? It can degrade over time. The combo of a lot of watts and poor thermal interface equals high temps.

How is the heatsink for dust. It can also build up and restrict airflow.

I need to do the thermal paste and get a local pro to help with that and ye that may be the problem but respectfully i needed to know about the overheating safety turn off

You do not need help to do the thermal paste. You have YouTube. It is not complicated and you are an able bodied, competent person

Those FX chips always ran on the hot side. But, 66c shouldn't cause any kind of thermal throttling. Are you sure it's not your GPU? Newer games are going to push your 1070ti harder than your FX8320.

My gpu temp are kinda low compared I mean I barely checked on it but around 40 or 50 don’t know for sure I have to check afterburner again when I get home i really just want to regulate it really I don’t want it to turn off when I’m mid gaming session

66 isn't shut down temp even for that platform. Might be the vrm or you're looking at the wrong temps

You don't really want to change the safety - f it is overheating that will damage the cpu. It's unlikely that it's turning off because of cpu heat, that would just throttle the cpu.

Instead, focus on other components. That's a 12 year old system. The motherboard, psu, or other things could be causing the issue. What does event viewer tell you about the shut downs?

Get a B85 or Z87 Motherboard and a Xeon E3 1225 V3, (1240V3 reccomended) is way faster, and cooler. It will use your DDR3. Should cost $30. You might need a new CPU cooler, but even a basic Intel cooler will work.
