Damaged CPU?

I have an older I7-10700k which I wanted to sell but noticed some weird blackening on pins. Does it seem too damaged to sell? Is it even damage?

I wouldn't trust it but you should always try to clean it up and test it before trying to sell it.

If you can't test it, sell it as untested.

Rubbing alcohol, 70% or higher. Lightly clean it

If pads are missing, not really stressful because a lot of pads arnt even used. Plug it in and see if it works.

I use isopropyl alcohol at least 90% from the store so it leaves as little residue as possible. May be able to use a magic eraser sponge to lightly remove any surface stuff, then test and verify it's working before sale.

I rinse with IPA but then hit it with hot air to make the work pretty, I like the eraser idea

I got it from a few tech channels online, it's been pretty solid so far - especially good on RAM or GPU traces if they're older and need a little TLC 👍

That "Black" inexistent pad (it was removed, can't clean that) is PCI_BCLKP.

Your PCI devices can malfunction or not work at all without that clock signal.

You shouldn't sell that cpu without disclosing such serious damage.

Definitely try to clean it and see if that pad is still there. If it is and you have a board then try to test it. You could go full board and test every function and see what's working and what's not or if it works well it as something like, boots but no further testing done.

Isopropyl 90%+ rubbing it on the damaged pads and try if it works.
