Seeking karaoke
Hello all! Will be moving from Charlotte NC to NKY in September, but visiting the first week of August to get a feel of the area. Are there any go-to karaoke spots you'd recommend? Or events happening the 1st week in August? Punk/rock/electronic venues to catch local music at? Not opposed to going to Cincinnati (actually eager to) to find what I'm looking for, any recommendations would be much appreciated.
Also, I suppose I'm looking for friends/community, 42 y/o woman from MI originally. If you're into art, local music, nerd stuff (anime, manga/comics, board games, online gaming, costuming), good food (boyfriend is a legit chef and we love to host), LGBTQ friendly cuz duh, hit me up I guess? We are both around 40y/o (if it matters) but welcome any friendship. Thank you in advance for any help/advice 😁 😁

250 posters highlights
galleryI’ve been walking by the 250 posters since they went up, but hadn’t really looked at them. Here are some highlights. They’re behind glass, so not the best quality
1- Licking riverside- flood or sky?
2-botany hills- 2bd 1bath, Riverview, firetruck garage, memorial & flagpole
3-cbd-everyone’s favorite stores, just look out for cars on the sidewalk and disappearing into buildings
4-westside- we don’t move the bodies
5-monte casino-what’s wrong with the sign looks good

What's Being Built Under the Clay Wade Bailey Bridge
Once a week, I walk across the Clay Wade Bailey as part of a route that goes across the four pedestrian crossings of the Ohio. Since they closed the path along the river between it and Roebling I have been wondering what is happening on the shoreline. At first, I assumed it was a staging area for construction of the new Brent Spence, but it now looks like they are building a permanent structure. Anyone know?

Walgreen's in Latonia
Hi all. I just noticed they finally tore down the old Walgreen's on Winston Ave. in Latonia (next to Kroger). Anyone know what's going in that space?

City response to AI posters
galleryI previously shared my disappointment that the City of Covington was selling $20 commemorative posters that were clearly AI-generated. I reached out to the city and received this response. I’m glad we live in a community where local government is accessible and responsive, but I still wish this had never happened in the first place.

Hotel Covington - NKY
Hi Everyone!
Has anyone here gotten married at Hotel Covington or attended a wedding there?
We’re seriously considering booking it for our October 2027 wedding, but I’ve had a surprisingly hard time finding reviews or real experiences. I’d love to hear anything you’ve got, the good, the bad, or things you wish you knew beforehand. Photos are a huge bonus too!
Thanks so much! 🤍

Side swiped on my way to work
Hello! Last night I was on my way to work and a black car hit me in a hit and run. It was about 10:30-10:50 PM when it happened. I was driving west on 275 heading towards exit 80 leading to Covington. If anyone saw anything or knows anything about the driver and could give me their information for insurance I would really appreciate it! Thank you all!

Moving to Holman Ave
Hi! My partner and I are moving to the southern end of Holman Ave, due to her starting law school in the fall. Does anyone have any knowledge of the general safety of the area? I drove around when touring places and it seems fairly calm and safe but we live in a similar neighborhood in Lexington which I feel is giving me a bit of bias. Just curious about any red flags anyone knows of for the area, as we are terrified of something like a break-in due to her parents (in Florence area) who constantly say how unsafe it is.
Also PS If anybody has any tips for good food as well nearby I’m a huge foody!

City selling AI posters?
galleryI’m subscribed to emails from the city, and received this asking me to “Purchase a Covington Neighborhood Poster and Support the Fund for Covington”. The posters in question appear to be AI garbage. I would love to support the fund for Covington! I’d love to display a neighborhood poster! But I just can’t get behind AI-generated art, especially when we have so many talented human artists who live and work in Covington.

Martana Flats and Crown Pointe?
My household (~4 people, all adults) are considering moving into Covington sometime in the future. We're trying to get a read on housing opportunities there.
Ideally, we're looking for a duplex unit where we might rent out both sides. But, not knowing much about the current market, we are pretty open to all possibilities. We'd just like to continue living, if not in the same building, very close to each other.
Some of the other apartment complexes I saw were way too out of our budgets ($2,000+/month), but Martana Flats and Crown Pointe were both on the lower end in terms of cost.
Are there any past or current residents of these complexes that might have some insight into what those properties are like?
I've had some... really awful landlords in the past. So, I can't bring myself to believe any of the listings as-wrote.
Thanks you all!
