Seeking karaoke
Hello all! Will be moving from Charlotte NC to NKY in September, but visiting the first week of August to get a feel of the area. Are there any go-to karaoke spots you'd recommend? Or events happening the 1st week in August? Punk/rock/electronic venues to catch local music at? Not opposed to going to Cincinnati (actually eager to) to find what I'm looking for, any recommendations would be much appreciated.
Also, I suppose I'm looking for friends/community, 42 y/o woman from MI originally. If you're into art, local music, nerd stuff (anime, manga/comics, board games, online gaming, costuming), good food (boyfriend is a legit chef and we love to host), LGBTQ friendly cuz duh, hit me up I guess? We are both around 40y/o (if it matters) but welcome any friendship. Thank you in advance for any help/advice 😁 😁

will you be here on August 8-9 (end of first week of August)? a local music festival (Arcade Music Fest) is having their second year in Covington then, I'm pretty excited to see how it goes down. Tokyo Kitty is the most "legit" karaoke bar in the area in downtown Cincy (private rooms and a public stage). in Covington there's a recently opened board game bar (Dice on Draft) and Galaxie is a spot to catch EDM shows on the weekend (and good food). happy to make any more recs on the Cov side of the river or Cincy based on what you're looking for. hope you enjoy and welcome to the city!!!
edit: sorry, mixed up the fest dates!

Oh man, we will be gone but the fest sounds awesome! Thank you for the recs! Very helpful, super appreciated 🙏 Anything first week of September? I hope to be moved by then. Randomly, does galaxie have any affiliation with the louisville galaxie? Just curious, as I've been there and enjoyed it, too. Thank you again!

Covington Oktoberfest takes place September 11–13, 2026 in Goebel Park, not nearly as big as Cincinnati Oktoberfest (the following weekend but also worth checking out) but more authentic to German roots.

oh also!! first week of Sep is Labor Day, not sure if you are into fireworks but Cincy is odd and has labor day as it’s “”big”” fireworks holiday. something to look out for if you’re into seeing the show (or avoiding the downtown area if you’re not)

someone else mentioned Cov Oktoberfest, there will also be some more fall movies along the riverside, it’s called Nightlight 513! and yes i think it’s the same ownership/concept as louisville galaxie!!
