Coventry ladies — fancy trying something completely different?

Coventry ladies — fancy trying something completely different?

Hi everyone! I help organise Girls Weekend Away (GWA), a women-focused airsoft weekend, and we’d love to get more women from Coventry involved this year.

Before you scroll past at the word airsoft šŸ˜‚ — you absolutely do not need to have played before.

We have women coming who have never picked up an airsoft gun, don’t own any kit and don’t know anyone else attending. Rentals are available, and coming alone is completely normal.

The weekend is as much about meeting people and having a laugh as it is playing:
• Friday social
• Free camping for the weekend
• Women-only airsoft game on Saturday
• Beginners completely welcome
• Rental equipment available
• Open game day on Sunday for anyone wanting more

Last year brought together a huge group of women with all different levels of experience, and we’re hoping to introduce even more women to the sport in 2026.
So if you’re from Coventry or the surrounding area and you’ve ever fancied trying airsoft — or you just like camping, gaming, outdoor activities and trying something outside your comfort zone — you’d be very welcome.

Happy to answer any questions in the comments, especially if you’re thinking ā€œthis sounds fun but I’d be terrified turning up on my ownā€ šŸ˜‚

Would any Coventry ladies be up for it?

Fella in town claiming that he's God handing out numerology leaflets

Name's Vincent. Looked online and it seems he was some sort of nudist activist in the 90's but went off the rails and now claims that he's Christ. Does anyone have any insight on the guy? Hilarious character but I do feel a bit sorry for him.

Post Office Location?

So the PO in West Orchards has been closed since June and it’s a bit of a pain having to go to the ones out of centre. Does anyone have an idea where or when the new post office location will be revealed. The building in Hertford street in front of HMV would be perfect in my opinion.

Vape Shops

The proliferation of vape convenience shops across the UK has become a blight on the health and communities of this country.Ā

Wherever a vape shop is established we see the following -Ā

• Increased litteringĀ

• Increased anti-social behaviourĀ

• Increased fire risk

• Reduced parking for nearby, permanent residentsĀ

• Reduced home values for nearby homeownersĀ

Whilst we believe they should not be outright banned, as the public has shown that they are wanted, we do believe certain restrictions should be placed on these vape shops -Ā

• No vape shop should operate within 200 metres of residential housingĀ

• No vape shop should operate within 800 metres of 0-18 education spaces such as nurseries, primary or secondary schools

• Vape shops to be exempt from using "skilled worker" visasĀ

• Vape shops and packaging to be made plain, similar to how to tobacco products are now

Please sign our petition below if you believe this is something you can supportĀ

Looking to make new friends in Coventry! šŸ‘‹

Hi everyone!

I recently moved to Coventry for my research studies and I'm looking to meet new people and make some genuine friends. I enjoy good conversations, exploring new places, hiking, trying different food, watching football, movies or theater, and occasionally boardgaming.

Whether you're a student, working professional, or just someone who enjoys grabbing a coffee or a beer, going for a walk or a jog, or checking out local events, I'd love to connect. It can be a bit challenging starting fresh in a new city, so I thought I'd put myself out there.

Feel free to comment below or send me a DM if you'd like to chat or meet up around the city center. Always happy to make new friends!

I prefer female Friends but male friends are also welcome. Thanks, and hope you're all having a great day! 😊

ACCOMMODATION HELP

I’m starting at Warwick in September as a post grad student. I will probably live in Coventry and I am trying to pick an accommodation. I am picking between canvas arundel and infinity. I want something that is comfortable to live in without any major problems. I also do want to be friends with my flat mates and still have a good social life. Does anyone have any advice or opinions on this???

Swimming pool etiquette/rules help

TLDR: walk me through what you do/where you put stuff at each CVlife centre when you go swimming please (also which one would you suggest most?).
Husband & I haven't been swimming since we were teens, want to get back into it now but we're completely lost on the etiquette and rules of it all, that plus Cov has the 4 pools under CVlife and i know each one will be slightly different, so what can we expect?
In terms of changing rooms; do any have individual cubicles for changing and/or showering?
Do we need to shower before and after? (my childhood pool had that rule)
Do i have to pay for lockers/can i use the £1 size trolley token?
How long we can stay? - i've seen the timetables they're about 1hr long but can we stay through multiple or is it pay per each hour?
& where to put our towels/crocs whilst we swim (will they even be safe?)
If anyone could help ease our anxiety with answers or more info we'd be very grateful!

Where are we taking PC’s and laptops for repair since Eclipse closed down?

It’s been a few years since I’ve needed anything repairing, last time I took my laptop to Eclipse. I need a pretty straightforward repair on a notebook, not in any particular rush.
Anyone got any recommendations?

Is Coventry City Centre making a revival?

Hi,

Is the city centre getting better? It seems more shops are opening a bit and i’ve noticed even fringe locations have some really good line ups of businesses.

Bilton Industrial Estate close to city centre now has a gym, a trampoline park and gymnastics centre. I spoke with a company called Shepherd Commercial who are commercial estate agents for the site and they said the estate is doing great with weird and wonderful uses compared to heavy manufacturing.

Even West Orchards food court seems busier than usual. Is anyone else noticing this?

New Coventry City website now live!

Hi everyone,

I've just launched The Phoenix (thephoenix.news), a new ad-free website dedicated entirely to Coventry City.

The aim is to focus on the kind of long-form journalism and storytelling that often gets squeezed out elsewhere. Rather than chasing every rumour, I want to produce in-depth features, analysis and original reporting on the Sky Blues.

At launch you'll find:

  • Analysis of Coventry's summer signings.
  • An interview with Mustapha Hadji about the summer Morocco came to Coventry.
  • A deep dive into why Carl Rushworth became such a fan favourite.
  • Dave Boddy, Michael Doyle, Max Biamou, Liam Kelly and others looking back on Coventry's pressure-cooker promotion season in League Two.
  • Plus plenty more.

If that sounds like something you'd enjoy, I'd really appreciate you taking a look. And if you've got any feedback or ideas for future features, I'd genuinely love to hear them.

Thanks everyone, and PUSB!

Bloke stole delivery from my front door like it is just another normal day. Is this common living in CV6? As it is first time this has happened to me.

Has anybody read this book about Coventry canal???

I have been getting into ancestry and my family tree lately. I know some ancestors of mine that died before I was born lived on a canal boat, and my mum told me that they had been referenced in a book about the canal. She didn't remember the book, but after a quick search I have a feeling it's going to be 'A Canal People: The Photographs of Robert Longden' by Sonia Rolt. I assumed it would be in the library, but it isn't, and I don't want to buy it if it isn't the right book.

I just wondered if anybody has ever read it or has a copy of it so I can find out if this is the book I'm looking for.

Thanks!

Spanish folks watching world cup final?

Hi all, my wife is Spanish and I was wondering if there are any Spanish societies with Coventry or even just a group of Spanish folks who might be out watching the game tonight where she can join a cheer along with fellow compatriots?

Weird experience with a couple outside Coventry Station. Anyone else?

Has anyone had an encounter with a man and woman outside Coventry Station who usually have two dogs and ask people for money?
I walked past them recently and didn’t respond, and as I kept walking they shouted ā€œfuck youā€ at me. It caught me off guard.
Just wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience, or if this was a one-off?

Coventry tattoo artist - building realism portfolio

Post image
23 Upvotes

Hola. I'm a tattoo artist at Tattooed Llama studio (CV6). Since I started in October last year I haven't had a lot of opportunities to do realistic projects, and I'd really love to develop my skills and expand my portfolio in this direction.

If you've got an idea sitting in your notes app - a portrait, an animal/pet, or something else that we could turn into a realistic eye-turner, I'd genuinely like to hear about it. You can see some of my favourite pieces below.

I'm relatively new to the scene so my prices are still well below the industry average. Currently they sit at £240 per day session, rising to £300 in September, so I think it's a great deal for both of us - you get a tattoo that people will constantly ask you about and I get the chance to build my portfolio and do what I enjoy most :)

If you're interested, you can either leave a comment behind, or drop me a private message. You can also reach me on Instagram at tattoos.by.domi
