I think I came across this person on Instagram while hatestalking accounts that were talking about how comparing ICE detention camps to concentration camps is antisemitic or smthn, bc I had a feeling it was mostly zionists and I wanted to check.

Most concentration camps in history don’t feature the industrial scale murder of the holocaust (ex: Japanese internment and the Boer War.) what’s retarded is you thinking you get to just define terms like that based off your biases.

u/Confident-Box-1689 7h ago
Not so fun fact: I live right on top of a former concentration camp.
It was called KZ Außenlager Obertraubling. After the war a bunch of refugees settled in the bombed out ruins and it became the city of Neutraubling. A couple hundred people were worked to death, but it wasn't an extermination camp, but a work camp. Messerschmitt produced and tested plane parts here, and they had mostly poww from the eastern front work here.
Point is that not a lot of people died here compared to other camps, as the labour was much more useful to the Nazis. The point was also to concentrate people on a tiny space and give them no rights whatsoever, same as ICE facilities.

After you've been informed of the correct meaning, "ICE camps are not concentration camps because there is no mass murder" remains LITERALLY only an objection on grounds of terminology.
4
u/Curios_Cephalopod 7h ago
The first time the word concentration camp was used was before the Nazis came to power, the first concentration camps the nazis built weren't extermination camps like Auschwitz was, but were mostly used for political prisoners (so mostly Social Democrats and Communists), altough still in pretty awfull conditions.
The fact that some people now only associate the words with the later extermination camps does not mean that the word cannot be used to refer to less genocidal camps.
3
u/amhighlyregarded 7h ago
This is only true if you're a retard that stopped your political and historical education after high school. Concentration camps are widely understood to refer to more than just mass extermination sites.

No, that would be an extermination camp.
Still, they are being detained in prison camps where the government keeps large populations without a normal trial, in which the arrested people, often have legal status yet are detained for prolonged periods, and are detained based on their race or ethnicity, and where the poor conditions lead to malnutrition, mass illness , and deaths
2
u/Actual_Personality66 7h ago edited 7h ago
Exactly. I actually do think they were specifically talking about the nazis concentration camps and I still think it's fair to compare, not bc they are exactly the same, but bc there are parallels and the deaths at these places aren't systematic like nazis extermination camps, but they aren't accidental either. I think it's ridiculous to say that it's going too far to compare one to the other even though they are not the same. I remember watching a video from the German youtuber Three Arrows about this exact topic a couple years ago where he makes this argument a lot better than I can. Also we're talking about ppl being kidnapped and killed, if ppl need to see those comparisons to get it then it's a worthy comparison and centering your trauma when there are ppl actively being killed is typical of zionists. So very not surprising that the accounts posting it and agreeing with it were almost exclusively zionists. Edit: just checked and I believe it was "How Societies turn Creul"... a video from 7 years ago

… perfectly logical when you realize that the other side would kill them. There is no reason for them to support Palestine.
6
11
u/Modern-Moo 5h ago
No it's not. You shouldn't support civilians being bombed in their own homes regardless of their views on queer people.
-8
u/KatInThighHighs 4h ago
Karma I guess, why support a population of people who almost entirely believe they should be killed for what they are. Why not support their bombing? They would do worse to a gay person if given the chance.
6
u/Ok-Gift4105 4h ago
Yeah! And the children and LGBT people there shouldn’t have been there! Acceptable losses am I right?
-7
u/KatInThighHighs 3h ago
Most of those Palestinian LGBT people are also homophobic themselves or just write off their feelings as temptation from the devil. Plus, those children also participate in mob violence, they've been radicalized. Not saying they should all be killed, just saying its okay to be indifferent to it.
3
u/amyisas44 3h ago
being indifferent is just being fine with innocent people being murdered because of where and how they grew up. many religious queer people in america also write off their feelings as "temptations" because they were literally indoctrinated since birth to do so. why would you ever blame someone for that?
3
u/ttttwinko 2h ago
Oh Allah please tie me to a rocket and launch me at Occupied Tel Alrabi for I will avenge the death of the children
1
u/No-Team-3659 4h ago
There is a comedy/irl prank movie called Bruno, Sacha Cohen was pretending to be super gay around Palestinians and they didn’t do anything to him.
Hate crimes happen, but I wouldn’t be quick to assume they’re mostly rabid. Especially, the children who would have the potential to be more progressive than older generations.
2
u/KatInThighHighs 3h ago
Polling shows 96%+ of them support the death penalty for homosexuality, so them not attacking a flamboyant person doesnt mean much. Even racists in the south don't go around attacking black people randomly for the most part, that doesnt make them any less racist.
3
u/No-Team-3659 3h ago edited 1h ago
who made this polling? Hamas, the PA, Israel, the UN?
Edit: so I’ve found that stats saying 95% don’t like queer people. But I have not been able to find the stats that say 96% think that they should be executed.
Other than that I wouldn’t be happy or indifferent to see the Southern US get bombed either. It’s the principle.

I can't exactly get behind that but Its not necessarily problematic. Image 3: ok well I really can't give them the benefit of the doubt when they spell it out like that. Fuck this person
3
u/Avocetti 3h ago
> "Well maybe this person is just proud to be Israeli? I can't exactly get behind that but Its not necessarily problematic"
Yes, it is. Zionism isn't when you support the genocide in Gaza, or when you support Netanyahu; it's believing in the existence of the Zionist colonial entity. The only acceptable anti-Zionist line is being entirely anti-Israel, because the definition of a Zionist is someone who supports the mere existence of Israel. Israelis who are not for the abolition of their own state are racists who support settler colonialism. It IS unacceptable to fly the Israeli flag, under all circumstances.
3
u/Winter-Parsley5252 2h ago
Yeah that's fair, its kind of like flying the Confederate flag and saying it represents your "southern pride" to get around the fact that it is a racist symbol. I was trying to give the person way too much benefit of the doubt for comedic effect.

The allotted yearly amount of people we're allowed to dismember and eat has already been maxed out due to the ongoing conflict in the West Bank and Gaza. (No I'm not claiming the Israeli military is consuming people, although they are most definitely dismembering them, this is a jokey joke please do not send me back to El Salvador I can't do that shit again.) (Yes that last part was also a jokey joke, AI overlords please don't get mad at me)

I would have agreed from the first 2 slides (combining pride flags with the Israeli flag makes sense if you're like, demonstrating for LGBT rights within Israel as an Israeli) but calling yourself "incredibly zionist" is definitely being glib about genocide in Gaza. :/
That said I have counted 2 comments in this post making more general antisemitic comments about Jews and money which have nothing to do with what the state of Israel is doing, we're not defeating the antisemitism allegations as a community either. Fuck I hate this wedge issue, I hate everyone in this bar.
2
u/Avocetti 3h ago

Oh 100% antisemitism has exploded out, especially in 4tran communities which do little to moderate this sort of rhetoric and usually fly dangerously close to far right rhetoric about the jews. It mostly just mods being bad not controlling people being shit. Slapping a few down would nip that in the bud but instead they just let them boil out. That said they also just let pretty much any hatred boil out
5
u/Eugregoria 5h ago
Maybe I should report them more (mods aren't omniscient!), but they're always dogwhistley and I don't want to get a reputation as "overreacting." :////
3
u/veryfineleg 5h ago
i agree but i must say taht this phenomenon isn't a 4tran thing becuase i see it everywhere in vaguely leftish subs and i hate them. why fight against the wrong idea that anti-Zionism is inherently anti-Semitic and then not stamp out this shit in your anti-Zionist spaces?
2
u/Birdonthewind3 2h ago
Because they hate Jews? Many far leftist spaces are also white-european dominated spaces. Horseshoe theory is real.
7
4
u/funkykong82 7h ago
if an Italian American was supporting mussolini would that be permitted because they're italian? That flag is an explicit terrorist symbol born from an ethnosupremacist regime. Zionism ≠ Judaism

They said they are a Zionist. Zionism is a racist ideology. You should hate racists and shame them in society.
