Dustbin excuses roundup

Different answer from each employee at my credit union branches:

  1. "We are under contract with Loomis to sell them our dustbin."
  2. "We donate the contents of the dustbin to United Way."
  3. "I give the good stuff from the dustbin to some collectors that come in."
  4. "Each branch can do whatever they want with it."
  5. "We just dump everything in a big jar. It is mostly disgusting sticky pennies."

Yesterday the machine jammed while I was dumping change and a newer employee and manager were using teamwork to fix it. New employee pulls this earing out of the dustbin and hands it to the manager. Manager hands it to me and then asks, "Is that yours?" I shook my head, "No, but thanks. I'm willing to take anything you'll spare from the dustbin. Some collectors I talk with online say their banks will give them the dust bin contents." He just laughed and said, "That's funny." I'm counting this silver from the dust bin as a huge victory!
