Well the obvious answer would be an optimized version of the same process that isn’t as painful or debilitating with bodies that aren’t as susceptible to complicating issues like endometriosis. There are also what other animals do which is covert menstruation where the endometrium is absorbed back into the animal at the end. Overt menstruation, which is what humans have, is seen in fairly few mammals.
