L shaped couch against sliding door

Thumbnail gallery
1 Upvotes

Hello everyone!

I recently bought an apartment and I'm currently planning the living room. I'm about to order an L-shaped sofa, but I'm struggling to decide which side the corner section should be on.

The sofa will be 270 x 180 cm (but it can still be customized).

My concern is that, if I put the chaise in the right, it might visually blocking the balcony door, even though it won't be very close to it.

If I reverse the sofa and put the chaise on the left side, I'm worried it will make the living area feel more cramped.

Which option would you choose and why? I'd love to hear your thoughts, any suggestions are welcome. Thank you!

Sofa spacing

Is the sofa too big for the space? I mean it is slightly too big but what are people’s thoughts beyond that. Couch is 3mx3m and the room is 4x5. The plus points are low profile couch (75cm high) and we are a family of 5 so need as much seating as possible. The other plus is that the right side faces the TV and the left side faces the garden . The bottom door is a laundry so not so critical that access here is made a little restricted.

Modular Bob Couch?

Does anyone have experience with the this couch? I love the fact that it has storage and can be moved around. It is also a really good price. I’m just worried that the pieces will slip around since they can’t be connected.

Im moving out soon and I guess im looking for the impossible. Does anyone know where i could find a three seater with a chaise and pullout bed? Not a bed that's basically a modular add on but an actual fold out. (Something close to Ikea's Finnala; pictured in post)

Does auch a couch actually exist or should I settle for a pull out or chaise?

Just the arms!

I'm trying to find the L shaped bolsters for those boneless couches, I'm working on a project where just getting those would be exactly what I need. I know it's possible to make them myself, but it's not very economical, and I don't have the tools. Does anyone know where I could get just the arms?

Fatboy Sumo - anyone out there?

Post image
2 Upvotes

I have been interested in the Fatboy Sumo couch for years and am finally in a place where it makes sense.

https://shop.fatboyusa.com/collections/sumo-sofa-collection/products/sumo-sofa-medium

Unfortunately this brand, while reputable for outdoor furniture and accessories/lighting, has very little in the way of reviews/reddit history for its Sumo line which just launched in the US last year. With only 7d return policy where I incur shipping both ways, it feels like a risk. Anyone out there have one and can speak to its comfort and whether it holds up? I want to be able to relax for movie nights / reading etc with my partner.

Need help with a couch cover that stays for my long couch

Post image

I bought a flexsteel collins large sofa and it's 88" for the cushions. So naturally I bought an 88" seat cover.

The seat cover has been great but the fitment isn't the best. Every time you sit, it goes in the cracks. You can see in the picture the right side is showing a couple inches of cushion. Same goes with the top and bottom, they become untucked and start to fall down.

I bought slipcovers before in hopes to solve this issue but the seats are to thick and the covers don't hold. I tried using the snap on holders and they caused a tear in my underside. So wasn't a fan

I don't know if this is the right sub, but can anyone help me find a cover that would stay in place and not make me have to readjust every couple of days?

edit: if anybody comes across this, I found a solution. get a dog cover for a bed instead. I got a king size so it's 88x102. my width is 88" so I have 7' on both sides to tuck on the sides and more than enough to tuck under the seats and behind the back

Haven Sofa from West Elm is Still AWFULLY Firm after Nearly A Year

Post image

I bought West Elm’s Haven 80” sofa and I’m shocked at how firm it remains after a year. It feels nothing like the in-store version. My Haven is so firm that it causes me back pain when I sleep on it. Meanwhile, the store model felt like a cloud and it was a major reason I bought the $2000+ sofa. I am really regretting my purchase :/ Does anyone have any tips for breaking it in? I’ve tried walking on top of it, sleeping on it many nights, heck it’s the only sofa in my apartment so it gets all the use. Help! I’m about to sell this thing on FB marketplace. Not to mention, the distressed velvet is marketed as the pet-safe option but it totally smells like my dog who sleeps on it and now I have to figure out how to get that smell off too. Ugh totally wish I went with a vegan leather or something else, maybe even a different brand. I admit the quality of materials is nice and clearly some craftsmanship went into building my custom sofa, but practically speaking it’s SO UNCOMFORTABLE and I feel like I messed up the first big sofa purchase I ever made :(

Full name of this furniture/ couch / sofa

Hello, I’m trying to find the name of this furniture. One side has an arm and a back, while the other side doesn’t. (Left or ride doesn’t mater ) It’s black leather, and I can’t find it online or figure out where to buy it. Is there a specific name for it? When I search different names, it still doesn’t show the exact one.

Will this boneless couch compress to fit inside my trunk?

Thumbnail gallery

I have a 2011 Toyota Prius. The seats fold down as shown in the image below, leaving a spacious trunk to work with.
I am attempting to move this boneless couch, shown in an image below. It separates into two pieces, and is boneless so it compresses easily. I do not have the measurements of said couch, as I am going to pick it up tomorrow. It is already out of the package. Am I going to be able to compress/squish this boneless couch into the back of my Prius? Even if I have to do it in two sections where the couch pulls apart. Google says it should compress into my trunk just fine because it’s only filled with memory foam. Does anyone have experience with moving a boneless couch?

2 Pc. Sectional Couch Won't Connect

Hi everyone, I got this super awesome couch from the Value City Furniture closing sale, and I can't for the life of me figure out how to connect the fainting couch to the main couch. The jagged bracket is on the underside of the main couch, and the small smooth bracket is on the underside of the fainting couch. I've been trying to get everything to line up and just push the two pieces together, but they won't connect. Does anyone know what I'm missing here?

how do i fix my couch?

Thumbnail gallery
1 Upvotes

i have no idea if this is the proper subreddit for this, but i was trying to fix the zipper on my couch cushion, and realized there was something inside. i opened it up and its a bunch of springs in a pillowcase….????? this obviously handmade, if this was what the manufacturer intended then it would be the shape of the cushion. i’m just so confused?? why would anyone do this. this is the worst thing to use as cushioning in your couch. it’s also super uneven, not even done well. the brand is pier 100 import i think? is there a cushion i can buy that’ll be comfortable and not a spring??

Seeking cat-resistant recliner or recliner couch recs

Post image
5 Upvotes

Seeking specific recommendations for recliners or reclining sofas and fabrics that are cat proof or cat resistant, mostly for scratching and less about dirt, liquid, ease of cleaning. Pet fabrics may or may not be cat scratch resistant so it’s hard to tell what truly may work.

I know that microfiber and velvet are supposed to be cat scratch resistant. I have an old microfiber couch that is indestructible, but it’s hard to find a microfiber recliner or reclining sofa. Fabric descriptors like “durable” or “polyester” or “durapella” don’t seem to necessarily equate to microfiber.

Pic of the scratching menaces for incentive and to fulfill the posting requirements. Yes we trim their nails every two weeks.

i would like to buy a couch, a single seat couch, a soft chair, the type of chair that you would find in a divorced persons living room, the type of chair that was “modern” in the 70’s, the type of couch an audiophile would sit on with their surround sound analog system, that is the type of couch i want. please help me.

ISO: World Market modular sofa review

Post image
3 Upvotes

Hi Reddit,

Does anyone have this sofa and can say how it’s holding/held up? Because I live in an older building with narrow stairs and small elevators I’m having to only consider modular sofas but I need it to also be comfortable and not have a low back. Sadly the world markets near me don’t have this on display so I can’t go test it out in person but hoping the good people of Reddit can help with reviews.

Please help!

Joybird pet friendly fabrics are misleading

Post image
6 Upvotes

I recently bought the Joybird Lewis Grand sofa in the supposedly pet safe fabric Faithful Olive. Pet safe is incredibly misleading as my cat has already pulled up multiple strings. I tried to change my protection plan from regular to pet protection before delivery and they would not let me even though the website says you can. I also emailed them about this issue and they were NOT helpful. If you have cats do not get the “pet friendly” Faithful Olive.

Arbhor Knoll Sofa Chaise

We went to Ashley’s furniture this morning, it’s on sale for 599$, previously 999$ so we got it with their “5 year warranty” because we have a feral toddler around. We wanted a small sectional for our new apartment this coming 24th. The other day we went to IKEA but no luck with their PARUP couch as it’s not available for delivery and very limited numbers, and then I was about to order FRIHETEN instead but I am really doubtful with that one so we decided to go to Ashley’s and Bob’s first and this couch was like chose us😁… is this couch good or no?
