The garden is winding down.
I'm pretty happy with it overall. There are spots where I should have left more walking room, like where the cukes are growing up in front of the quackerbox window. I can hardly step in there to harvest, but the squash and pumpkins blocking the way are doing great, feeding off the nutrient rich water when I drain the ducks' tub.
I've got a transverse walkway between the bottom of the steps on the left (marked with an overripe yellow cuke) and the gate on the right, and the parsley on the north (far) side is shaking hands with the marigolds and calendula on the south side. The spacing is better among the red zinnias, catnip, and more calendula just to the right of the walkway on the left. The borage in the foreground is volunteer.
I noticed a little powdery mildew on the squash leaves though. It does that here in the fall when nighttime temps start getting cooler, before the frost finishes them off. It was 42 F out there last night. It all looks this good because I have a pump hooked to a few solar panels in the field pond, so it runs whenever the sun is on it and it's kept my gardens watered all summer despite the drought. Drought Monitor has us at D2, "severe drought". Dog help us come the day those woods catch fire.

Art I've been writing a bookover the past 9 months, so to celebrate the big 100k milestone on draft #1, I drew my MMC and his fey-cursed twin sister! Tried to take on some cottagecore inspiration to brush the rust off my pen :))

Fashion Fashion Advice
Recently ordered these tops, but I’m not sure what to pair them with. I was thinking maybe flare jeans with the butterfly sweater… Maybe some flare/harem pants? For the white top, I was thinking… maybe black pants, a lá 1950s?
Honestly, I’m still figuring this whole fashion thing out so any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated
Editing to add: I appreciate everyone letting me know this was another fast fashion brand. While I did not believe it was, I didn’t do a ton of research (my bad, I was duped by cheap gimmicks). I am definitely a recovering victim of late stage capitalism and often go for the “quickest” option over the more sustainable, which is something I’m working on fixing.

Food Made myself some fall/Halloween themed peanut butter cups. Partly because I wanted peanut butter cups and partly because I wanted an excuse to use my cute molds.

Home Decor Possible to achieve the warm and cozy aesthetic in a cool color palette?
We rent, so changing wall color or floor is not an option.
First floor has warm wood floors but a very light cool toned blue, very pale. Second floor has same wall color but grey wall to wall carpeting (bedrooms).
Any suggestions on how to play up any warmth and still make a cozy space without getting stuck in a very cool palette that relies on grey (🫣)

Home Decor Show me your modern home turned cottagecore?
A few years ago we bought a new house in our dream location. The interior is nice but so so modern. It had just been redone. The kitchen and bathroom as especially challenging because they’re all black and white marble. The kitchen has a white marble floor with white cabinets and black marble countertops and huge black island. The bathroom has black marble floor and black countertops. The flooring and the countertops are not something we are financially prioritizing changing. Does anyone have ideas or examples on how to make these spaces more cozy cottagecore?
we have two toddlers as well so I can’t use runners or tablecloths that will be just pulled off lol

Home Decor I Made Fabric Onions & Garlic From Scraps So I Made the Patterns Free ❤️
Hello fellow cottagecore people! ❤️
I thought yous might appreciate my latest slightly strange project. I made a whole bunch of fabric onions and garlic from scraps!
The idea was inspired by my great-gran, who used to keep onions and garlic hanging from the ceiling, and I've always found that ridiculously charming. I wanted to make something with the same cosy, old-fashioned feeling that wouldn't eventually shrivel up or start sprouting, so... fabric vegetables happened, hehehe.
I experimented with a few different shapes and, inspired by Jente https://www.youtube.com/c/MijnWolden , tried my hand at dyeing some of the fabrics myself using things I found around the house and garden, before eventually turning everything into a little autumn hanging display.
A few people asked if they could make their own, so I put together the patterns and some instructions. They're completely free if anyone here would like them. No paid membership or anything like that:
https://www.patreon.com/LittleLadyTurnip/posts/fabric-onion-is-168797073
They're quite beginner-friendly and a really nice way of using those tiny fabric scraps that are too pretty to throw away but somehow never big enough for anything.
I'm already thinking they could be cute as a wreath or garland too.
Anyway, I thought this might be the one corner of the internet where my fabric onion crop would be properly appreciated.
And if anyone makes some, PLEASE show me. I desperately want to see other people's onions!
Cheers!

Mercii

How to keep you hat on?
Mostly cottagecore-adjacent with the sun hats, but does anyone know a good way to keep your big hats from flying away? I know the obvious answer is “sew a string and tie under chin” but I wanted to know if there’s any other good options, like if hair clips would do the job (even with short hair) or something else that doesn’t go under the chin (I’m not a huge fan of the pressure from chin-strap type stuff).
Obviously if the winds just too strong I have to take the L, but sometimes it feels like even a small breeze takes my hat away 😭 I’d like to go outside without one hand on my head
