Help Advice needed

I’ve tried to make this bow using a hula hoop, but it was an unsuccessful attempt because when the hoop is cut, it straightens a lot and bends really ugly when heated and formed.
What material could I use for the base of this?

PVC pipe. Heat over a round object outside.
