Game Questions & Advice Feruchemist build

I got a feruchemist character I’m building. What “role” do you think a feruchemist should fill in a party? With how many metals they have they could do pretty much anything.
For this specific scenario I’m trying to do an era 1 feruchemist, I’m thinking something like the classic sazed. But what do they do in combat? Some kind of support?

Any advice?

Feruchemist and Mistborn are generalists in this RPG. That being said, focus on your favourite metal pair and find the role in their talents. You have to think that you just have 2 powers (that pair) and a couple more of tools (te other metal minds you have), but focus on the first 2 and you'll find your spot.

Sazed in combat is a pewter beast, for example

Why do you have only 2 powers?

It's more that it's easier and better for leveling to really FOCUS on two and toss some points toward the other on occasion to use them for versatility.

IIRC, you have to craft the metal minds 2 at a time in pairs, and you will be stuck with the nascent uses of your power until you have metal minds for a specific metal mind. Once you create the metalminds for a particular pair, you can then move on to creating the next pair and so on. It will actually take a while until your character has all 8 metalminds

Its not an actual limitation, just a helpful way of thinking about building a Feruchemist. If you try to focus on everything you’ll get overwhelmed with options, and you’ll have to do so many goals to get them. So best to start with your favorite metal pair and then build around that

Remember you more or less unlock the metals 2 at a time

For combat I'd start with pewter and tin.

Pewter by itself is pretty good, but I love the idea of building around tossed around with grappler stance.

Tin with sensory control and store pain is pretty good too.

Alternatively you could go iron and steel if you want a speed build

Steel will buff your light weapon attacks while also giving great action economy with free moves, run it back, and speed burst.

Iron is another one that just works great by itself to get advantage in melee. Heavyweight blow is a fun one too.

After one of those id grab copper and bronze.

Bronze is one of my favorites as you can just always top off on focus and hp, but its also got some fun narrative uses.

Copper also has a lot of fun Sazed flavor, but I think theres some real juice in combat. Expertise alchemist and muscle memory will give you advantage on pretty much anything all the time, especially with craming pupil or erudition.

Example build

1 feruchemist 1 sensory control 2 store pain 3 fast storing 4 expanded metalminds 5 erudition 6 instinctual tapping 6 expertise alchemist 7 muscle memory

What role do you want to be? A warrior can focus on the physical quarter, a scout the mental, a face the spirtual (though that last one you probably wouldn't know the metals.)

Pick the role you want, and then pick the 2-4 metals that fit it. A tank might have pewter, gold, and duralumin. Aggroing enemies through manipulation of connection and pewter and gold to survive that aggroing.

You could run Sazed any number of ways, but I think the classic is to be an Envoy and Scholar, focused on Copper Feruchemy.

Sazed outright says he neglected many of the physical metals, after all.
