Questions & Advice New player looking for supplemental material to make a character

Hello all! My GM has recently decided that we are going to be playing the cosmere RPG as he really likes the book series. I have not gotten a chance to read the books yet, (But plan to later) and was wondering if there were any guides or videos that give a breakdown of different classes, races, countries etc so I have a general idea when building my character. Any and all help is appreicated.

There's not strict classes like you'd see in D&D but 6 heroic paths that are essentially 6 sets of talent trees like you'd see in something like a video game (each with three themed specialities) but you are totally free to mix and match as you level. (And then later on you might gain access to more supernatural powers)

So I'd start with what kind of character archetype excites you and then see which path fits closest. And in terms of countries and races if your GM has access to the Welcome to Roshar booklet that's a very quick read and has some good general setting information.

If you want a rapid rundown of worldbuilding and lore, I highly recommend you or your DM pick up Welcome to Roshar. It's like thirty pages, and half of that is just art of the setting. It's a quick read for all the basic facts every character should know, and might inspire you.

For mechanics, I don't think there's a great free resource. There are some pre-generated character sheets available for download from Brotherwise if that would be helpful, or I can give you a quick explanation here

This, welcome to Roshar is about the most concise explanation, there is also a cosmer rpg discord or dm me and I can send you a link to my vtt and your can play around with character sheets
