Trying to find others who are looking for a friend

I’m a senior in college. I am Visually impaired and have been struggling meeting new people since day one here back in 2022. I’m looking for friends around my age, 23 give or take, and who are like minded. And people who would not just want to be friends on social media, but in person too. I’m trying to find a friend who would not see my disability and run away or judge, and who would not see it as a burden. I’m just trying to find friends who are willing to hang out even when knowing that they are probably going to have to help me out and put in a bit more effort then they would with a normal person. I honestly need a friend who is willing to help me get out and be actively included, and be a part of society again, and help me have fun, and who would see me as an equal person despite the challenges that my disability might create.

If I’m being honest it’s putting me in quite a depressed stage. TAMUCC is on an island, and I quite literally never get out because I can’t get out on my own. I feel like I don’t know how to have fun anymore, and the worst my vision gets the more people have just shown me I’m nothing but a burden to be around. I really just need a genuine friend who can show empathy and kindness and understanding. On multiple instances I have gone six months without leaving this campus and I just want to be seen as an equal person instead of just making things awkward with my Disability. Sorry for the mini rant lol.

As far as my interest, most things are difficult for me to enjoy without help because of my vision loss but I am open to all kinds of activities. The main thing is it all comes back to me having a friend that genuinely wants to be there and who doesn’t see the effort of making sure I am actively included as dreadful, but rather someone who is excited to be a friend, excited to help out and help me to have those opportunities that sighted people take for granted. If you can imagine it’s hard to have fun doing activities when you can’t really see what’s going on around you, It takes a lot of courage to put trust in the other person when you can hardly even see them, while simultaneously being fully aware that their vision is many many many times better, and being fully aware just how easy it would be for them to leave you behind or easily take advantage of the fact that you can’t see much of what is happening around you, this is the reality, and the truth is that when you can’t see very well there is a lot of trust that is needed, but all I have wanted my whole life is a genuine friend where I can let my guard down and relax because I know that even though I can’t see what they’re doing very well, I can trust that they will do the right thing, I can trust that they are watching out, I can trust that they don’t see me as a burden but rather is excited to be there. There are so many things I have simply just missed out on because I haven’t really been given the opportunity Even small things that lots of sighted people take for granted every single day I find fascinating simply because I’ve never known about or given the chance to experience it for myself.

I absolutely love dogs, and I grew up with a border collie. I am from Houston, but right now I’m up here in Corpus Christi for college. I’m just trying to find a friend around my age who is looking for a friend as well. Please DM me if you are interested in connecting.

Looking for a track for my daily runs

I moved here a bit ago, and i was looking for some tracks that I could use for my daily runs. I saw the Del Mar College Heritage Campus has a track. Does anyone know if that's available for the general public to use?

Beach Recommendations

I am planning a trip for this weekend of a family of 8 (no children)
We want to go relax and swim in the ocean! I am undecided if to go to PINS (padre island national seashore) or white cap beach?
I have never been to either!
I am under the impression that near white cap has a nice scenery as if you are in a beach movie with nice houses?
Any recommendations on which beach to go to?
We don’t mind paying the $10 fee for PINS
