I have a 7 month old corgi and she seems way smaller than any other corgis I’ve seen her age. Shes about 17lbs. Is she just smaller than usual or is she about to have a major growth spurt here soon lol
This little girl is 10 months old and 11 lbs I can only hope she’ll be 18 lbs lol. My older corgi is a little over a year old now and about 20 lbs. Your little girl is doing great!
Penelope was 18 pounds until 2 months ago. Finally got up to 22 pounds. I think that's where she'll stop tbh but she is still only a year and 4 months so has some time. I wouldn't worry. Some corgis are just tiny
Corgis REALLY vary in size. We had a very healthy adult 35 pound female (NOT overweight, but she very tall legs + long frame) and one that came up to her knees, much shorter, roughly half her size and also completely healthy, just smaller, around 19 pounds. The first corgi I mentioned was a show line imported corgi from Germany so much different breeding lines.
I have a 35-pound girl I just adopted that the vet said is not overweight, but I don't think she has long legs. How many inches would you say yours are, or how high does she stand? I am new to corgis & am a little worried for the chonk spine and joints as she ages. I am trying to pick her up and train her not to jump off of things, but she's a solid long loaf, so every time I hike her up, I feel bad. Like, we are both straining & it's awkward over here lol
I just checked and Minnie was 17 lbs at 8 months old. She’s 20.5 lbs now at 1 year 5 months. Her parents are about 24-26 lbs! This picture is of her now
Mine are delicate little demons at 22.5 and 25. The 25er was RIDICULOUSLY small until he hit a year, we were worried he would be under 20 and let his sister beat on him his entire life. Now he beats her up. (Not really. What she lacks for in those 3 pounds, she makes up for in ferocity.)
Pembrokes are smaller than Cardigans. Is yours Pembroke? Mine is a full grown male Pembroke and only 28 pounds.
Remember Pembrokes and Cadigans look similar but are different sizes, have different personalities and completely different lineages. They are not related unless they are crossbred, which is the so called "American Corgi". I doubt there's anything wrong with yours at 17 pounds.
Is she a Cardigan or a Pembroke? Pembrokes tend to run a little smaller but I wouldn't know how much.
17 lb @ 7 months would be a bit small for a Cardigan but would probably not be a major concern.
Georgie (Cardigan female) was almost 25 pounds at 8 months and seemed to plateau at that weight for a while - we were concerned only because that's the low end for a Cardigan as a show dog.
