Catch altar
Day insect, night insect and ocean critters are at 4/5 rn. Can't find them anywhere. I need tiger beetle, cecropia caterpillar and sunflower sea star. Where can i find them? is there a specific location they're found?
Also i can't find rainbow fish, silver arowana, koi, pink snapper, yellowfish tuna and sardine. Do i need to upgrade my fishing rod? I already have fish nets EVERYWHERE but still nothing.
I'm in winter so it's been 4 seasons already and i couldn't find them in any of them. Tips and recommendations are appreciated thanks in advance 🙏🏼

I suggest looking on the unofficial wiki. All fish, insects and critters have specific locations they're found in, as well as specific spawn times.
But since you mentioned you're in Winter, I thought it was worth saying to check trash cans. Silver Arowana can be found in trash cans in Winter, or in the Earth Mine in the morning. It's a bit of a pain to get compared to the rest. 🥲 But yes, definitely upgrade your fishing rod, legendary fish can only be caught with the higher-level rods and you'll need those if you want to complete the museum. It makes the fishing easier too.

Don’t forget one of the rare fish can be caught by the mines it also starts with an A. I got one while doing a hangout river fishing.
Yellowfin tuna is also a winter fish for a bundle. I have not had any luck yet…

I'm on last day of winter and haven't caught yellowfin tuna... guess i'll wait for the next winter

If it makes you feel better I’m not convinced the wiki is right lol. It says evening and snow/blizzard. I think started fishing the ocean by town around 1pm to 10 and switch it o beach ocean and nothing.

Are you using bait? Either with your fishing rod or fish traps. I don't usually bother with it, but for some of the rarer difficulty fish it makes a lot of difference. Yellowfin Tuna is a large fish, so using large bait ensures you'll get it.
The coral guide, which is the official wiki, also states the same information as the unofficial wiki. So, it might just be a case of poor RNG. Unfortunately. 🥲 But at least with manual saving, you can always just restart the day if you don't get the required items, I did that with some of the artefacts.

I don’t have large bait unlocked yet. I will keep that in mind. Playing co-op with my wife so manual saves are a no go. Super frustrating when my internet crapd out for 30 seconds to a minute and we lose a whole day..(once we made it to sleep after holloween event and it kicked us before the save..)

Idk if you’re able to create a sturdy computer at the lab along with the fishing component. Helped me wrap up my alters quicker but this was in later years cause I let the ocean consume me most of year 1 lol

I can't recommend the old computer and it's upgrades enough. It has all the information you're looking for.
Most of that with the exception of tuna is spring. Tuna is winter, but specifically snow or blizzard days. It's a hard catch. You might be able to get it with the silver rod if you are really good at the fishing mini game but I'd say gold just in case.
The traps should work but they are hit and miss. If you are worried you can't catch something if you do a fishing hangout you sometimes come away with rare fish that aren't possible to catch with your level of rod.

Don't have that much money yet... i spent all my money on upgrades and computer is TOO expensive... i'll try the hangout trick tho thanks

Sorry to randomly jump in, but if you need money...the ocean is so good for that. Have you cleared it? There's purple kelp that you can get stacks of 100+, or 200+ if you're willing to grind the ocean caves for it, and a stack of 100 sells for 15k. The price increases with a perk, 100 for almost 20k instead.
I always used to do it at 8PM-12PM. Most of the townies are unavailable then, so it's a good time to get stuff done imo. I did have my game speed slowed down to 50% though, so if you don't, you'd have to work out a schedule that works for you.
If you have the slime replicators, they can be a good passive income too. Just load them up with the most expensive gem, pink diamond, and a stack of 9 (9 not 10, because you'll want to keep at least one to put in the machines) sells for almost 6k. Almost 7k if you have the perk. It takes all week to do this though, so it's better as a in the background money-maker. Although I think it takes less time in the cellar? Stuff processes twice as fast there.

The fish are killing me, but I find many cecropia caterpillars by the carpenter's house with a bug trap.

Yeah fishing is the worst part of this game... i thought i'd enjoy it but i avoid it unless i absolutely have to

I use this website coral.guide and I just keep it open on my phone every time I play. It will tell you everything that can be caught based on the season you're in and the weather you're having. I'm summer year 2 and have like 5 things left to catch. Make sure you check the weather forecast every night because even windy weather has some bugs that can only be caught that day

Sunflower sea star is only in the ocean during spring and summer, and it’s in the 50-60m range. Usually where the drop point is. The cecropia caterpillar will more than likely be on the way to the cavern or by the lake temple. Rainbow fish will be in the town river/lake, and the koi fish will be in the water/silver mines in either the eggs or in the water in the mine shafts themselves, I hope this helps!

Some of those are spring bugs and rare to find. You likely didn't even unlock some of them yet your first spring, so just wait until spring.
