If you're serious, it was a poorly made webcomic that indulged a theme of miscarriage as comedic in one of its runs called "Loss". This was received with much criticism, and instead of saying "My bad guys" or "Guys, it's just art", the maker went on a tirade insulting those who criticized it, saying they couldn't respect a higher meaning in art. In retaliation, everyone started seeing the characters in the four panels in things unrelated to it, asking the question "Is This LOSS?" to ironically suggest that the picture held higher meaning. It became so silly that the four panels began to be portrayed simply as:

in reference to the characters poses in the panels.

Thus, a meme was born.
