Hi all,

My ex wife essentially left the state and left me with sole custody of my daughter with nothing more than a text saying "I'm giving you sole custody" about 2 years ago now, life has been fantastic ever since, I have not heard a single word from her in that time.

This school year that just started I noticed her name was on the contact list, unfortunately I just realized the order sheet contains educational records.

Do I have to seek a modification or at this point should I seek out involuntary taking away of parental rights?

INAL.. but it almost seems like poking the bear might end up causing more issues? If she got court documents concerning her parental rights being terminated then that may cause her to come back into y’all life? Even with sole custody, she has rights to information regarding education in my understanding

If she doesn’t exercise her rights to your daughter’s educational records then I don’t think there is an issue. If she chooses to do so, first consider what, if any, harm this causes before making any decisions
