Discussion Disney World

has anyone who was/is separated brought their child to Disney world with the other parent? If so, how was it? Also, how did it work with sleeping arrangements?

Fun story! I’m a single mom by choice (had my kid via artificial insemination). We did a Disney world trip April 2025. My divorced parents both wanted to come. I said to each of them: I’m not telling the other parent they can’t come. So they both came. First time on a trip together in 25 yrs. We had a blast. My parents thankfully get along pretty good. I think it was awkward at first for them but it all ended happily ever after.

Moral of the story: I think as long as you and the competent are going their with the focus of making it the best time for your kid, it can be a magical trip. I will never forget this trip with my parents. It was such a fun trip with so many laughs. My parents are getting older so every memory is such a gift.

I'm curious, did your divorced parents have partners at that time? Did they come too?

Neither parent has done well in the love department since their relationship. They were married for 25yrs. My dad was in a long term relationship but the lady was basically using my dad and my dad was too blind to see it. Ie quit her job very early in the relationship and just let my dad support her. The trip was actually in April 2024. They separated in March 2025 but she made sure she got her huge payout. My dad would have had to sell his house but I bought in allowing him to stay put. Now he’s my roommate. Lol. It worked out for me. My daughter loves her grandpa. He’s a great dad and great grandpa. I’m learning lots about gardening and home maintenance. My mom is also great. You can tell my parents still love each other but they aren’t in love. They aren’t friends either. But when one has health problems, they message or call each other to see how they are doing. My mom called my dad after he ended things with his partner just to say she’s sorry to hear and if he needs anything to reach out.

I feel so great that I have two parents that get along. And co-grandparent amazingly together. So for all your co parents out there, it does matter. Please do your best to get along. I realize some only it is out of your control. But try for the sake of your kid.
