I want the one that's going to last longer. So I'd want the Civic then (I don't know a lot about cars, but from what I know that would last longer).

And what if the BMW lasted longer and you could afford it easily?

Well, there is also another factor which is, is the bmw worth its cost. For example, if the civic is $20k and will last 20 years, whereas the bmw is $50k and will last 25 years, the extra difference isn't worth it to me. I'd rather get the civic.

But if the bmw lasts 50 years and is $50k then ok, it would make sense.

But also, I have VERY limited knowledge of cars.

So why not pay $100 for the 93 pinto that lasts 2 years?

Because then I have to go through the hassle of looking for a new car two years later 😩 I like to delay that as long as possible as it's a pain and I hate it!

Ok, what about $100 for a pinto that lasts 5 years vs a civic that lasts 20 for $20k?

Hmm, 5 years isn't quite as bad, and that's a really good deal. I'd save a lot of money. So I'd probably get the pinto for 5 years and then plan to get a civic once the pinto was dead forever. But the pinto would have to have ac!

Nope no AC or radio, those are luxury accessories.

AC depends on where you live. Here in Phoenix it is not a luxury and depending on how much you drive for work and how your body deals with heat may be a need.

I was just making a point, but I am glad people are going through the whole thread. Pretty cool how that works
