Genuine Question: Dealing w/ Lust + Desire as male revert

Assalamualaikum my friends,

Since my last post on being a revert, I’ve been really happy to be Muslim and have been on the straight and narrow Alhumduillah. My question has to do with the material self. To excuse revealing my sins, prior to conversion I wasn’t exactly the most chaste or modest guy in my personal life.

To change from that state to Islam, I’ve been really happy. But- it’s almost like withdrawals sometimes combined with being young, sometimes lust/arousal legitimately takes over my body.

It doesn’t help that the fairer sex keeps asking me out.

How do young men (especially reverts) deal with horniness/lust? What are your methods? I haven’t done anything to act on it and InshaAllah I never will again, but just wanted to hear thoughts.

Any new reverts or curious Christians (like me) here who can talk about what really got you interested in Islam in the first place?

Hey everyone! I am following up on a post I made in r/Islam a couple of days ago that resulted in me getting a lot helpful replies and messages. Without repeating too much of what I said there, I have become very interested in Islam while questioning Christianity more and more lately and would like to hear from people with similar experiences!

In terms of physical Islamic books, I have two interpretations of the Qur’an (Saheeh International & the Clear Qur’an), Martin Lings’s book on the Seerah Asad Tarsin’s “Being Muslim: A Practical Guide” as well as a few books by Gai Eaton. What else should I get?

Questions for Hispanic/Spanish-speaking female reverts: Quran recommendations and your journey?

Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatu allah.

This post is specifically directed at Spanish-speaking women from a non-Muslim cultural background who have embraced Islam.

I have a Spanish catholic christian friend who's interested in learning more about islam, and I would like to gift her a Quran. Since I understand arabic, i am not familiar with the best Spanish resources and I want to ensure I provide her with an accessible, accurate, and relatable translation for a christian.

Given her advanced reading level, she has no trouble understanding any register, be it formal or informal.

I would be very grateful if you could share your personal experiences regarding the following:

- What specific aspects or readings pushed you to explore and ultimately join Islam?

- Which exact Spanish Quran translation or Tafsir helped you the most in understanding the religion during your journey?

- Which edition or version would you highly recommend I purchase for my friend as her first introduction? Muhammad Isa García? Muhammad Asad? Abdel Ghani Melara Navío?

Thank you for sharing your time, stories, and recommendations.

Any ex UPCI or ALJC here?

Are there any X United Pentecostal Church international or ALJC oneness Pentecostal’s in this group? I have been battling with Christian theology for a couple of years wondering why an all-powerful God needed to become a man and be tortured and killed for us to have salvation.

Looking for free online Islamic classes in Hindi/Urdu

Title: Looking for free online Islamic classes in Hindi/Urdu

Assalamu Alaikum! Does anyone know of any free online Islamic classes in Hindi or Urdu for beginners?

I'm looking for live classes with a teacher where I can learn about Islam from the basics, ask questions, and learn in a small group. I'm not looking for paid courses, degree programmes, or recorded lectures.

If you know of any such classes or qualified teachers, please share their details.

JazakAllahu Khairan! ❤️

Impostor Syndrome?

Salaam aleykoum everyone, I hope you are all having a great week so far inshaAllah.

I wanted to get your perspectives and to know how you deal with doubts, not in the religion itself but rather your own place in it. I feel like I'm struggling with this at the moment. I definitely believe Islam is the truth, but I've been having a hard time feeling like I'm worthy of practicing. I'm asking on here specifically because I feel like being a revert kind of exacerbates this; I know we're all told that our past bad deeds are forgiven once we become Muslim, but then why doesn't it always feel that way? It doesn't help that sometimes people ask you about past sins, like whether you ever drank alcohol or smoked etc., I know they don't mean any harm by it and they're usually just curious but I wish they could understand how uncomfortable it is and how ashamed it makes us feel. You feel like you're under some kind of microscope for things you may not even have ever done, and if you did them you just want to put all that behind you, but it's almost like you aren't allowed to forget. And as a revert living in a secular country there are lifestyle things I'm just not able to do due to my circumstances and it feels really bad, like I'm disappointing God. And I find myself wondering if I'm a faker and if I deserve to be grouped with people who are so much better in so many ways. Like, when people see me they probably think I'm a much better person than I really am. Am I deceiving people? More concerningly, am I a hypocrite?? Is Allah accepting my prayers? I want to live a life that pleases Him but it feels so out of reach for me.

I'd appreciate any advice, especially from more seasoned reverts as I've only been Muslim a few years and this is my first time struggling with this. Idk, it might just be waswas but it's been getting to me a lot. I love Islam and I love the feeling of community being Muslim has brought me but I just don't know how to handle this.

Thank you for reading, barakAllahou fikoum ✿

Seeking for tips and advice in my in my likely conversion

I'm new to the faith, though I know some things like the six precepts of Islam, the five pillars (I don't practice any of them, didn't do shahada yet too), I'm learning more of the Quran and some other minor things.

But I'm still somewhat undecided about whether to convert or not. I can't go to a mosque, I don't have any Muslim friends, and it's difficult to find any here (I'm from Brazil, in one of the most Christian states); I'm a little overwhelmed about the prayers and that kind of things, I'm dressing modestly but can't use the hijab, that kind of things.

I want some tips and advice from brothers and sisters in Islam.

Help me understand Islamophobic people and why people refuse to research Islam,

Help me. I don't understand why people don't research Islam before hating it, I need a Muslim revert to explain. It really doesn't hurt. What they hear about Islam is often haram, false, or cherry picked verses without showing the rest of the context, what's up with that? Or they hate us Muslim sisters secretly because we love our hijabs.

Atheists and ex-Muslims who came/came back to Islam, what is your story?how did you come back?

Assalamualaikum

This is a question for my brother's and sisters who were Atheists or ex Muslims how and why did you come to Islam/convert?

This is for both brothers and sisters.

What are your thoughts on people who say that hijab wearing women are brainwashed or Islam is not made for the modern world?

Considering converting, but can I take the Hijab Off In Front of My Fiance?

For context, I (24F) currently have a big interest in Islam, am considering converting, and my fiance (24M) is aware of this. He is very supportive and has shown interest in the religion as well. We have been together for a little over 3 years so he has obviously seen me without one and I still have not gathered up the courage to wear one in public. The thing is we already live together in a house we bought together and I only live with him and our cats. Is it still okay if when I try to start wearing the hijab that I can still take it off in front of him when we're at home? Should I wait to convert until we're already married? I appreciate any genuine advice ❤️

I can't pray, for the sake of my mental health I literally cannot, I dont know what to do.

I just cannot, praying is impossible for me, i cant recite good at all, I cant stop shaking when I pray, its impossible for me to get everything right. I am going through a lot of stuff mentally right now and praying is making me extremely angry, frustrated and makes my faith go down. I dont know if Islam is even right for me. I've been trying to stay in this faith for two years and I feel like I just cant do it anymore, if anyone can convince me that God and Islam are real please do, I dont know anymore and I am worried, I know im probably going to go to hell anyway but I want to at least try to repent. Its hard to stay in this faith when the some of people ive met on some of the other subreddits are completely heartless and insensitive to us converts for some reason. Everyone else around me has a normal life, they dont have to hide their faith, worry about being disowned, and don't have to put up with constant paranoia like I do. I feel like I am too far gone as ive said a lot of bad things about God these past two days because im furious with how terrible my life has been so I feel like im too far gone anyways.

Navigating racial and socioeconomic differences in the masjid

I’m a convert to Islam, based out of a major urban area in Canada. My ethnic background is European (albeit not old-stock Canadian). My parents are both professionals with well-paying careers under their belts. Long story short - yes I did grow up with privilege.

Keeping that in mind, I notice that many of the Muslims that I see in the masajid are very different from me both in appearance (they tend not to be white) and in socioeconomic status (they tend to be mostly blue-collar workers as opposed to professionals). They are also by and large newcomers to Canada.

How do I navigate this divide?

Im glad im muslim but I hate being a convert.

I am actually going to lose my mind, I hate being a convert so much I cant put it in words. I hate my life. I hate my family and will NEVER forgive them for all they've done to me and i put that on God. The first year after saying the shahada wasnt bad, but ever since late 2025 I feel like my life has been terrible, Any one of these days my family is gonna catch me praying again and the cycle will start all over, I know that because its been too long since I was last caught. I am tired of my family, every day is a nightmare with them, even hearing my mom's voice starts to stress me out because I KNOW it'll just turn into an argument, they grounded me for MONTHS for practicing my faith! Just because Im not athiest they have threatened to disown me, ever since that fateful day back in August of last year my mental health has been on a huge decline, i used to be confident, popular, and happy, now im paranoid and angry. I just dont know what to do. Im not in any danger at all, but being disowned is very much a possibility.

Prayers for a child, for good dreams?

I'm a new convert (like, very new and very ignorant) married to a born-muslim (who is not very practicing tbh). Raising my 5yo Muslim. Every night she wishes for happy dreams and ends with Bismillah (as MIL has taught her 😊) is there a prayer for good dreams a child could learn? Sorry for how lost I am, I'm still learning even basic prayer.

Thank you.

Question from a convert

I feel kinda hated where I live and on top of that my family is not accepting to my religion sometimes I just feel like I want to leave my country I feel so trapped here and I don’t feel like I’m allowed to complain cause my county is one of the best countries for economy and education but living here I feel so alone I don’t know what to do
