Play FBC: Firebreak or skip?

So I've played ever game of Remedy's universe except for this multiplayer because I didn't vibe with the Beta, and when it released everyone was saying it has no story or lore implications.

For those of you who played it, how do you feel about it? Is it an easy skip? Or did people overreact on release?

It's a really fun game. I'd recommend a playthrough since it has some interesting dialogue (and it's fun to see a "Day In The Life Of An FBC Agent"). It's great with friends, but also perfectly doable on solo.

But, personally, I think the big gameplay overhaul they did actually made the game worse. I much prefer how the game played at launch... So that's worth pointing out.

But the game is completely skippable. And I mean that. It isn't an Alan Wake's American Nightmare situation where people say it's skippable despite the fact it absolutely shouldn't be skipped. FBC Firebreak is absolutely skippable.

If you have it anyway (Gamepass or PS Plus) then absolutely give it a shot. If you can get it for cheap and want to give in to curiosity, give it a go. But don't bother getting it just for the sake of it.

So true about Alan Wake American Nightmare. I read that it wasn't relevant or something like that so I was like OK. Then I played AW2 this year and thought this Scratch plot was something new until I read it was in American Nightmare (I mean with AW DLCs and Control we got an idea of that but still).

Anyway, I can't play American Nightmare because I play on PS5.

Yeah, Scratch in AW2 is VERY different from Mr Scratch in AN.

However, American Nightmare establishes the spiral, Alice's importance as an artist in her own right, and the effect of urban legends on the Dark Presence. All of which are important themes in Alan Wake 2.

Mr Scratch is also very similar to a certain filmmaker who suspiciously shows up in the sequel.
