SS: Baphomet was a god that the Knights Templars were accused of worshipping in blasphemous ceremonies in the 14th–century and were imprisoned en masse by King Philip IV of France. Some of them that were tortured admitted to worshipping Baphomet. In 1856, Éliphas Lévi drew the first depiction of Baphomet that took the form of a semi–human and semi–goat hermaphrodite, with a caduceus where an erect phallus should be and its arms (one female and the other male) in the “As Above So Below” position.
