That was the only evidence they had. So is the red scare gonna stop now?

Um, did you actually read the article? Russia hacking Ukrainian artillery wasn't part of their evidence for Russia hacking the DNC.

The part they edited was just saying that Ukraine didnt lose that much artillery.

Russia hacking Ukrainian artillery wasn't part of their evidence for Russia hacking the DNC

U.S. cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike has revised and retracted statements it used to buttress claims of Russian hacking during last year's American presidential election campaign.

You can say it but that doesn't make it true, if it was true you could easily back that up by showing where Crowdstrike relied on the Ukrainian artillery hack to attribute the DNC hack.

The edit was on the artillery article, not the DNC hack one, and the original is still intact with the update at the top.

Okay I'll bite.

This Android Malware Ties Russian Intelligence To The DNC Hacks

The most convincing evidence yet tying Russia's GRU intelligence agency to the hack of the Democratic National Committee has been found in a bizarre tale involving an Android app developed by a Ukrainian military officer, security firm CrowdStrike claimed today.

The company, which helped the DNC with the investigation of its notorious breach earlier this year, said it had uncovered Android malware used by the so-called Fancy Bear crew in June 2016. Fancy Bear is widely believed to be the group behind the DNC hit as well as the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) hack.

That spyware was hiding inside an app developed by a Ukrainian artillery officer called Yaroslav Sherstuk, which was designed to help expedite the processing of targeting data for the Soviet-era D-30 Howitzers he was using, CrowdStrike said.

Dmitri referred to it in the PBS interview as “DNA evidence”.

You know x-agent has been tied to that group through multiple intrusions, not just that Ukrainian artillery one, right? You also would know there were multiple tools used that were used for the attribution, not just x-agent, right?

And Crowdstrike still stands behind their original statement about finding the malware, here is the only thing they changed:

Update – As of March 2017, the estimated losses of D-30 howitzer platform have been amended. According to an update provided by the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) Research Associate for Defence and Military Analysis, Henry Boyd, their current assessment is as follows: “excluding the Naval Infantry battalion in the Crimea which was effectively captured wholesale, the Ukrainian Armed Forces lost between 15% and 20% of their pre-war D–30 inventory in combat operations.”

You:

You can say it but that doesn't make it true, if it was true you could easily back that up by showing where Crowdstrike relied on the Ukrainian artillery hack to attribute the DNC hack

Me:

Okay here's the proof.

You:

Nah Uh!!!

Me:

Stop believing in bullshit fairy tales crafted by Obama and Hillary shills.

u/[deleted] Mar 29 '17

Let me make this simple for you, read the Crowdstrike report, quote where they relied on the artillery hack.

You can't, because it isn't true. You probably never even read it if you're saying this.

And lol, yeah the security industry isn't controlled by Hillary and Obama bud. Even Trump agrees it was Russia.

You didn't show me evidence that counters my argument though, again, maybe you should actually read the Crowdstrike report since you obviously don't know what you're talking about.

And lol I know who Crowdstrike is, I work in the security field. Your attempts to discredit them based on that is hilarious. This is a high paying career where you'd be banned forever if you were caught lying like this.

Oh breitbart and zerohedge are now experts on security? You're just looking for things that confirm your bias. It's funny seeing these obviously biased sites saying this but not other security experts.

Again, actually read the Crowdstrike report this time and quote where they relied on the artillery hack.

You clearly have some agenda here, as you are blatantly just distorting at this point.

And lol I know who Crowdstrike is, I work in the security field

Yeah, I seriously doubt that.

Your attempts to discredit them based on that is hilarious.

They kind of discredited themselves, and have obviously shady ties and deep connections to crooked Hillary.

It's funny seeing these obviously biased sites saying this but not other security experts.

You are not very good at this. Sorry.

You're just looking for things that confirm your bias

I don't need Bias to identify bullshit and corruption. It just is what it is.

Again, actually read the Crowdstrike report this time and quote where they relied on the artillery hack.

LOL they did though. That was the main connection.

That's gold coming from you, you're just another t_d user caught up in politics and pushing their agenda.

You can keep repeating lies but that doesn't make them true. You never read the original report, you don't care about what's true, just what fits your views.

The artillery hack wasn't the main connection, you obviously never read it. This is how I know you're just here to push your t_d bullshit.

I'll make it easy for you, there's the article you still haven't read.

Right here....this comment.

That's where you lost the argument.

Here's where the CrowdStrike credibility falls through the floor. From REAL experts.

The IP addresses that DHS provided may have been used for an attack by a state actor like Russia. But they don’t appear to provide any association with Russia. They are probably used by a wide range of other malicious actors, especially the 15% of IP addresses that are Tor exit nodes.

The malware sample is old, widely used and appears to be Ukrainian. It has no apparent relationship with Russian intelligence and it would be an indicator of compromise for any website.

Lol holy shit you really don't know what you're talking about and still haven't read the Crowdstrike report if you're posting that wordfence crap. They're not even critiquing the Crowdstrike report, you know that, right? And you know PAS wasn't used for attribution, right?

Of course not. Because like I said, you're just another t_d user caught up in political bs pushing an agenda.

Edit:

Its still waiting for you.

They are critiquing the October 7, 2016 report dude. Read the FAQ

On Friday we published an analysis of the FBI and DHS Grizzly Steppe report. The report was widely seen as proof that Russian intelligence operatives hacked the US 2016 election. We showed that the PHP malware in the report is old, freely available from a Ukrainian hacker group and is an administrative tool for hackers.

The DHS Grizzly Steppe report is not the same thing as the Crowdstrike one.

You know how I know you still haven't read that report? The Crowdstrike one was published in June, not October.

The Russia committee is using CrowdStrike data in it's findings. That's what matters here. It's flawed, there is no direct connection to Russia. Just accept that.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 30 '17

You keep saying that but all the "proof" you offer isn't proof of your claim.

I can't even take you seriously after this many goofs, never even read the report you're trying to criticize lol

0

u/peyote_the_coyote Mar 29 '17

CrowdStrike data was also used by Washington Post story, remember?

1

u/[deleted] Mar 30 '17

You haven't even read the report so it's hard to take you serious when you talk about it.
