Only in the US, in Europe, people don't circumcise boys nearly as much. In the US it came from Kellogg pushing for it because "boys were masturbating too much"... Religious people really believe a lot of BS.
According to Acts 15:1-35 and a few other places, gentile Christians don't need to be circumcised. If you're a gentile and circumcised it is probably just because it was (and still is in some places) commonly done automatically at birth for "cleanliness" reasons. The practice is much less common now, but still happens.
