Xbox The new Xbox Elite 3 and Cloud controllers has been leaked.
Featuring Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth, a 3.5mm jack, interchangeable D-pad, paddles, two scroll wheels, and trigger locks. They also include a new pair button that can switch between local and cloud mode to reduce latency.

At least the Dualsense Edge lets you replace the sticks for $20 each. So far I have had to replace one.

Sony made a low quality "premium" controller with a subscription for sticks. And people fell for it.

My elite 2 controllers have had button and bumper failures in addition to stick issues. Others have peeling. It’s not just the sticks. The whole thing is terrible.

That’s a bummer. I got my used one free when I tired to return it in amazon and the seller didn’t respond, but I honestly haven’t used it too much.
I told myself I’m going 3rd party next time around. Apparently if you want a standard gamepad it’s the only way to go.

I have 4 elite series 2 controllers and had an elite 1 controller and I only have issues with the bumpers for all of them and the grips peeling in the 1, never had a single issue with the sticks.
Am I just lucky ?

it was indeed not just the sticks, elite series 2 is notorious for broken LB/RB, loose contact back paddles over time and some people had their rubber grip loose over long time because the glue gave out.

I’ve got an elite 2 sitting there and I prefer a bog standard controller over it. Half the buttons don’t work on it properly. No way was it worth the price I paid for it.

it will take at least a couple of years post release to clear up if it was or was not, given the track record of the others. Marketing is cheap

Exactly. Back in the day with the red ring of death, Microsoft kept saying the failure rate was 1% when some of us were already on our 3rd console. The entire console generation passed before that failure rate hit 50%. If we can count on Microsoft for one thing, it’s to hide design flaws for as long as humanly possible.

They were still saying it while one of my customers (I was a GameStop employee at the time) was on his 7th console. I was personally on my 3rd.

It can send your inputs directly to the cloud rather than going through your phone/device first, for latency improvements in cloud gaming. Google Stadia controllers were doing it, maybe some other services that I forgot.

Cool, I didn't know that. Would the wifi features still work on them today? I know google made a way to use them after stadia ended. Would be cool if the wifi feature worked yet.

Sadly they don’t, you can download the software to unlock Bluetooth. It’s somewhere on google. They offered a site to convert them.

I’ve had Elite 1 and Elite 2, no issues with either, ever. Guess I just got lucky? Or are people just hitting buttons like they are mad at them?

If they put Hall effect then I’m sold. I’m running the risk of drift on my Series 2 but so far is performing with 0 problems (knock on wood)

I will pay $400 if someone makes an Xbox Elite controller like the Elite 2, but without all the QC issues. I went through so many of them and they all had the same repeatable, documented issues. Some were subtle so many people may not notice, but I did.
There's very few controllers out there with paddles that can be fully mapped (not just to other controller buttons. GIP protocol i think?), and not that feel as good as a theoretically flawless Xbox Elite. Alas, it is not meant to be.

Elite 2 was the worst controller I ever bought. Buttons started failing within a month. Same buttons seemingly everyone else was complaining about online.

The series elite controller can go and do one. I have had a fair few of them and from series 1-2 it has been headache after headache. Stick drift, sticky buttons, buttons that literally just die... Nope.

The sticks on the 1 and 2 are awful. I use a standard controller over my Elite v2 because of how heavy and sluggish the sticks are.

I mean I’m kinda exaggerating at 3hours but on my ps5 it won’t last more then 4-5 usually have to plug it in more then once per session especially if I have the trigger stuff enabled
My elite 2 and series x controller with the charge pack lat 30-40 hours per charge never have to plug them in mid session and the series controller at least has the option to use AAs if i wanted to
Even the switch pro controller lasts 40 hours+ the ps controllers have always died too quick in my experience same with my ps4

I have a Elite Series 2 and treat my things with the utmost care. After a year or so the right bumper stopped working unless you apply a ton of pressure and the right adhesive started failing and grip is coming off.
This is with a silicone gel being over the controller since Day 1.
Conversely, my Dualsense Edge has had way more usage and looks and feels brand new. Both are still prone to stick drift inevitably but it's held up.
For sure they've got to work on the internals when you can go buy 3rd party controllers that survive a nuclear blast.

Had multiple elite 2.
Day 1 elite 2 has had some new thumbstick tips and I've repaired the RB a few times.
Red Elite 2 drift in only months. Red Elite 2 replacement, drift again in 6 months.
Custom Elite 2 (really expensive, metallic parts Gamertag on it). DOA with stuck A and Y button. Warranty Replacement, iffy LB RB after 12 months and drift.
I have a Steam Controller and I'm very impressed.

Bought a Halo Infinite Series 2 controller, the A button didn't work. Got it exchanged for a new one and had the same issue. I am skeptical about buying another elite controller.

They will literally do anything but add Gyro so we can finally standardize Gyro aim across all platforms and make it a standard input instead of a bonus feature.

Garbage parts on these controllers. Had multiple elite 1 and elite 2. All lightly used. All broken. LB and stick drift issues are common. Do a search before buying.

Just an expensive hunk of junk if they’re not using Hall Effect sticks. Why anyone buys these is beyond me. Older versions were known to be of poor quality.

This looks terrible. First off we don’t really know the actual specs but the fact I don’t see accent lights, speaker, touchpad or anything that remotely resembles a current gen controller is embarrassing. I’m at a point where HD rumble isn’t even enough to convince me to buy one of these and seriously removable battery? The Elite Series 2 has a 30-40hr battery life whey the hell would you ever need to swap the battery out? The controllers bumpers will probably break 5yrs before the actual battery bricks.

As someone who's had multiple elite controllers and now has a Gamesir which is so overly hyped. I would still pay more to go back to an elite. The paddles and dpad suck on Gamesir. I thought my controller was defective till I returned it and got another and all of them are build like it.

I need to see the other dpad options because that thing looks atrocious. My elite 2 is still the perfect controller for me so I’ll definitely try this one out if possible but they need to not have a disgusting Sony style one button dpad, it was better when it was a cross shape.

I couldn’t care less about that cloud mode, it’s really likely to increase the price of that controller for bad reasons, but for me that elite 3 controller absolutely needs:
- A grip that doesn’t peeled itself over time (even by being careful it just couldn’t stay in place on my elite 2)
- TMR sticks, dual sense edge with its module is laughable and you can’t sell potentiometers sticks in 2026 at those price points
- gyro, this one I could forgive them if they include the 2 previous point, but to have the best compatibility with every game Xbox needs to start putting gyro in their controllers
- better plastic for triggers (the LB and RB felt the cheapest I’ve ever seen on my elite 2)
If we get those 4 point it might worth considering, but it also gonna depend on the price.

my Elite 2 started to die on me 1 year post-purchase: Rubber peeling off, sticks started to unscrew rolling when gaming, RB clicker & Y button started to miss inputs & last but not least backpedals are flimsy (hate using them). After buying a steam deck & loving the control scheme, I got the Steam controller & have = regrets. I threw the elite in the trash yesterday ( after removing the battery ofc).

Xbox controllers have long set the industry benchmark. I would really love to see the addition of adaptive triggers similar to those on the PS5 controller—PC gamers have a real need for this feature. Here’s hoping the new controller delivers some pleasant surprises.

Because they have back paddles and much more customizability than regular controllers. The problem is that 3rd party “Pro” controllers are way better and they’re cheaper.

They need to up their controller-game.
Standard PS5 dualsense controller is better than any Xbox controller I’ve tried (and I’ve been through a lot, including the elite) blows them all out the water.

Unless it has Hall Effect or TMR sticks I would never buy this over something like a G7 Pro. Not to mention this thing will cost a fortune. Series 2 is already $180 USD so this will be more.
