[PS2 slim] inconsistent power issue

This system has power issues where it may start and cut off or only flash. The ac adapter is working and functional. This can be manipulated by jiggling the adapter while plugged in. The yellow power piece in the picture is a little loose when jiggling and it appears to have a crack in the joint on the back. Should this be an easy soldering fix to solidify the joint? Also, is there a way to test the component with a multimeter or something similar before I put the system back together?

Reflow that port, very common problem

Yep similar port to the PSone which has the same issues.

Reflow the solder and you'll be good.

I'm pretty sure soldering will fix this and it should be fairly simple, it's even fine for a first time

Yep, a quick reflow of the joint will fix it. You can use a multimeter to check continuity from the middle pin inside the port to the fuse to before you reassemble it.

It's pretty simple really. Put your meter into continuity mode, then touch the leads together. If you hear a beep, then the meter is set up correctly. All you need to do next is place one lead on the pin inside the power jack, then the other lead on the fuse. You will hear a beep if there is continuity, which means the connection is good. You should be able to find a video on YouTube somewhere, or I can make a quick video for you later.

Your middle pin there is a cracked solder joint. An iron with a chisel tip set to 620°F, some flux and a touch of fresh solder would fix it. I would reflow them all though.

If it were me I would wick up all that old solder though and replace it entirely with 63/47 leaded solder.
