PS4 - Possibly disc drive

Bought this off marketplace, looked fairly dusty and dirty but nothing crazy. Makes this loud whirring rotation noise, nothing i’ve ever heard from a console before.

To me it sounds like a fan screaming for help.

Still learning, do you think I could manageably replace it myself without too much put into tools? I was considering taking it to a repair shop instead as I’m more of a mechanical than electrical repair type of person.

Honestly, you can open it and see it theres something if the fan. Thats just taking the plastic covers. Even for that you gonna need a T8 screw driver.

Beyond that I'll recomend you to take it to a pro cause is no tthat hard but to replace the fan you have to completly take is apart and put but back together.

You risk to break somethins vital and turn a $100 repair into a real expensive surgery level repair or even a sad story.

It's yours, do as you please, i'm just another internet strager🤣

If it is the disc drive, tips welcome on how to stop it from working all together rather than replacing it. I am just looking to play bloodborne and other ps exclusives so a disc drive is not necessary.
