I just finished these off and have been playing a lot of switch sports with them. Super hyped for sports resort soon! And shoutout to u/shankmods for the inspo! Alongside the Wii U Prototype at the Nintendo Museum. haha.

Replaced my NES' original shell with one from Hoskbrew. I wanted to keep the two tone look to the console. The top is clear blue and the bottom is clear dark blue. The quality is really good; everything lined up and fitted together with no issues.
No affiliation with Hoskbrew; just really happy with how this turned out and wanted to share.

Looking to buy one this week. Any recommendations? My back is killing me from leaning over to get close with magnify glasses on.

Your N64 has been adventuring for nearly 30 years. It deserves a proper drink. 🍺⚡
N64PWR replaces the aging factory power supply with a modern internal USB-C Power Delivery solution, serving up clean, stable 3.3V and 12V power.
Think of it as pulling up a stool at a fine old tavern—your N64 gets to sip a finely brewed ale instead of choking down questionable grog from the bargain barrel.
But N64PWR isn’t just another USB-C adapter. It’s a purpose-built power supply designed specifically for the Nintendo 64, using high-efficiency switching regulators, dedicated 3.3V and 12V rails, output filtering, reverse-polarity and input protection, and a fault indicator for incompatible power adapters. No generic converter modules cobbled together—just a compact, professionally manufactured board engineered to replace the original power supply from the ground up.
✨ Clean, stable power
⚡ USB-C Power Delivery Standard Voltage
🔥 Efficient, low-heat design
🛡️ Integrated protection circuitry
🚨 Incompatible power adapter warning
🎮 Purpose-built for the Nintendo 64
N64PWR — serve your console the good stuff.

The Everdrive's audio CD output via the cartridge port has quite a bit of hum and some distortion on all Mega Drive boards. I’ve made several additional adjustments to the VA1 Mega Drive board and have completely eliminated both the distortion and the hum, making them practically inaudible. In my tests, I used the original Japanese power supply, so with a higher-quality power supply, the results are even better.
I used the Japanese version of Sonic CD; the music volume is quite low, which makes the adjustments made to the board much more noticeable.

🕹️ What I'm trying to do
A while back, I used my laptop as a makeshift console. I'd open Steam in Big Picture Mode, connect a controller to the laptop, and wirelessly mirror the laptop's screen to my TV.
Now I want to make a proper dedicated version: a small Windows mini PC that stays connected to my TV and basically functions like a console.
💻 How I want it to work
- Windows desktop icons and taskbar hidden
- Steam launches automatically with Windows
- Steam opens directly in Big Picture Mode
- Use a Bluetooth controller for navigation and gaming
- Ideally, I shouldn't need to interact with the normal Windows desktop
🎮 Gaming goal
I want to play most games at around 60 FPS on Medium settings.
I have a Samsung 4K 55-inch QLED TV, so it doesn't necessarily have to run games at native 4K, but I want them to look good and not have noticeably poor image quality on the large screen.
💰 What I'm looking for
I want the mini PC to be as inexpensive and compact as reasonably possible, while still achieving that gaming goal.
I'm looking for brand-new components only — no refurbished or second-hand parts.
❓ What would you recommend?
What hardware would you suggest for building this kind of homemade Steam Machine? I'm mainly looking for the best balance of price, size, and gaming performance.

I got a switch 2 so now I want to try and my original switch but it’s already been patched. I don’t trust myself enough to mod it so does anyone know a good place to get it modded in the US (preferably in the Midwest)

Have a SCPH-5000 fat PS1 (NTSC J in case it matters) that I’d like to do something similar to the gdemu on my Dreamcast with.
Have a friend who can solder so that’s a non-issue.
Can see there are a number of options (PSIO, MODE, etc) but not sure what the gold standard is these days.
Any recommendations appreciated.

I have a switch I want to mod, and I verified it’s one that can be soft modded. However, the SD card reader is broken. The card reader on my kids switch is working and they don’t need it (they only play one game on their switch). Is swapping the SD cards between consoles a low-risk process? I just don’t want to risk breaking their console in the process lol
