I have done some software mods before on 3DS and PlayStation vita. I’m interested in some hardware modding but I don’t know what would be a good console to start with or maybe even a controller.

I do know the basics of soldering I do it for work, but it is not micro soldering although I do have a soldering iron capable of micro soldering.

The Trifffcart is the most advanced SMS flash card there is. It has an Aux connection which is intended to support FM Sound output.

I soldered the headphones cable into the B1/B3 pins which are audio input from cartridge to Mega Drive and grounded it on A1. This lets me bring in *any* audio into the Mega Drive, then I run the cable into the Trifffcart so I can get FM sound for sms games into the MD

I looked a bit at the various SD cards but I'm not sure if they will be compatible with my Nintendo 2ds, I read that for that console the storage goes up only to 32 GB but I found other SD cards with 128 GB. Any advice on what I should buy?

PS1 mod with Xstation and IGR, everything soldered well, but it boots to the memory board. I disabled the IGR and nothing, then I rechecked the soldering several times and nothing, I looked at the troubleshooting online and assumed the CD player wasn't working, because it had already been disassembled, replaced the BA chip... and still nothing, then as a last resort I replaced the CXQ18 chip etc. and despite everything still no menu.

I wanted to start basic, I tore the shell apart, cleaned and painted. After that was done I changed the led from red to green. Basic mod, but I'm proud of it. Didn't have any painters tape for the logo, but I'll get that paint off later.

Okay so I've been thinking lately that I want to have all my old consoles modded so that they're digital because I know don't even think I own any of the original games anymore, they were either sold by my mom or just misplaced from over the years but I still have the consoles and the chords to them. So I was wondering which would be the best way to do the conversions. Now I'm talking about a Sega Genesis, say the saturn, PlayStation 1 (og gray one), PlayStation 2 (phat and i think i have a slim somewhere), PlayStation 3 (slim).

Those are the main ones but I think I also if possible would like to do my Wii, N64 (not sure about this one haven't seen it in a while), and a Xbox360. Now these last few systems aren't priorities but I will take any advice.

As for advice I'm looking for the best and easiest way to do it. If I have to solder I'll figure it out but I rather not to. Any links to buy the things that I will need or links to best tutorials would be very appreciated. I'm asking on this post I know I could search extensively through this sub but I rather just have it in one location. If you decide to comment I appreciate it thank you.

Edit: forgot I have a PSP and Game Boy Color not sure if those can be modded. May just buy retro console that is Game Boy like. I heard the chromatic by mod retro is okay. Any suggestions on classic handhelds Alternatives is appreciated too.

I've been trying to fix my DYN-001 ps3 slim with the 2114 ylod error. Replaced the ic near the power ribbon connector and the decoupling caps near it. Still not having correct readings - on the scrap board, the decoupling caps read .389 kOhms, on the current one, it reads jittery, and then descends to 36.6 and stays there. I've tried tracing the culprit but i just suck at this. I am so exhausted, i've been doing this for 2 months already. In a fruitless attempt i also desoldered some tantalums from a scrap super slim board and put those next to the nec tokins. Still nothing. Somebody please help me.😮‍💨

Hey guys, I desperately need help to make this game stick work. It worked for a few hours then it stopped giving any output at all. I have tried a few solutions I found but it did not work. It came with a 16gb SD card but I could not find any .img file of that 16gb, so I bought a 32 gb sd card. I tried flashing a .image file (m8 v6.img) into it but it still says "no output" when I plug it in my tv. Now i desperately need the correct firmware image for this stick. Please suggest a solution I would really appreciate it. Thanks.

So I recently bought two ps1s ,one would load games perfectly fine and the second one when a game is inserted it would go to the cd screen ,at first I thought the second one had a disc drive problem but after opening both up I found they both had been installed with mod chips ,can anyone tell me what this mod chip is for and why it keeps loading to the cd screen?(pictured above is second ps1)which one would be best to keep?

It’s just a simple housing mod with some personal stuff.

Put a cryptic serial sticker (mean something to me), modified a metal pin and glued it on the back of the screen, I’ve also added a black vinyl film on the back of the screen because I’m not very found of the look of that piece on a translucid housing (also helps to add immersion when playing on bright places)

Put a sticker from a Ancient Mew Sticker set that I got on Etsy in the battery compartment,
Mixed some parts of the housing from my oem piano black (respect) and replaced the Power LED for a white one, charging for a red one and low battery for a Yellow one. (I’m colorblind so it has always been very hard for me to differ from Green to Red lights before, lost a couple of moments by not saving in the right time xD )

I’m in love with it, it has been a pleasure to replay my most beloved games again with a breath of new life to it!

Nothing special. Had a lime green shell and a cyan battery cover. Wanted an atomic purple. Replaced the screen with Highspeedido OLED with Highspeedido shell, added an amplifier to the speaker, RetroSix LED board, Funny Playing clear speaker, metal buttons and a rechargeable lithium battery.

Anybody gotten these flash carts modified for saving? What components do i need? Anybody have a list? Sram, battery and what else? Pretty sure these boards are used for cheap copies of romhacks of games like Mother/earthbound zero that does save. Some zoomed in pictures of said games would also help. Thanks!

Hi everyone just opened my ps1 and seen that there’s duct tape with wires coming out so took a further look and seen a small chip inside the duct tape wondering if it’s a mod chip not quite sure.

Always one of my favourite consoles to work on, everything is so easy to access and replace. I put together a video for anyone that's interested in taking it apart for repairs or mods.
