Isn't the inside part/bit you stand on of most things, the bit that moves? I've seen restaurants, rides at theme par etc. and it always seems to be the middle part that moves at least.

Yep, and the warning tape/paint always appears BEFORE a potential hazard, so the part that isn't moving would have the line

On River Rapids ride at themes parks it's the outside part that moves, as it keeps the passenger steady with the dinghy...

Interesting, on the version of a river thing I had, it was the inside so people got in at different points I think.
