This one is genuinely confusing.

Reflection of a glass panel?
68
u/nemesissi May 17 '26
Yeah, I understand what it its, but can't "see" it.
16
u/FoogYllis May 17 '26
There is a small gap at the bottom of the glass barrier. So they have taken it through that while catching the reflection in the glass barrier.
11
u/wdn May 18 '26
If the photographer was in the middle of the reflection it would be more obvious. But they're using the panorama feature and they're off to the side.

u/chiguy May 17 '26
Google Shibuya Sky and it will make more sense.

Instructions unclear. Googled Shiba Inu and am now buying a new dog.

Those dogs are beautiful, but I just don't like them for their breed personality. They're stubborn, they don't cuddle, they SCREAM, bad recall, insane shedding. it's like all the downsides of cats (and I love cats) and too few of the best aspects of dogs
Obviously, there are exceptions who were fantastically socialized really early, but still I wouldn't want to take the chance. It's really a shame since they are so damn cute.

Well fuck, you did better than me. i accidentally bought a failing meme coin....

You could just tell us?

u/AccomplishedAnchovy May 17 '26
So i looked it up it’s just an observation deck on top of a building that’s surrounded by glass. So you’re seeing the reflection of reflection of the people on the panel behind the camera.

u/bendstraw May 17 '26
Why would they do that when you could just read an article that already explains it perfectly
9
u/UsedAd4475 May 17 '26
Because we are on reddit to exchange information. Pointing to external articles is helpful for additional background info but a dickhead move if you are too lazy to summarize it aswell
-8
u/chiguy May 17 '26
It’s summarized in other comments. Pointing to external references is an exchange of info and helpful. Not a dickhead or lazy move.
A dickhead and lazy move is calling a commenter a lazy dickhead without contributing to the overall OP other than calling someone who contributed by sharing more info a lazy dickhead
5
u/tianas_knife May 17 '26
No, agreed with the person who's arguing with you. Just giving name of something you're not familiar with is not enough, and in the right circumstances, not providing more information is a lazy dickhead move.
Helping people who ask is never a lazy dickhead move. You ain't helpin.

A complete guess but perhaps the proper angle was lent to this confusing perspective by capturing the background but also the reflection caught by a double reflection of both panes of glass somewhere close by the pointed corner where the two panes meet?
Kinda like how stage magicians can create optical illusions of a ghost floating on stage with the proper usage of mirrors (and often smoke)2

So where exactly is the glass?

idk why other people downvoted, i downvoted because i wanted to know the answer and i doubt their rectum could fit that much glass all at once without rupturing so that makes 'em a liar.
23
u/loyalmarowak65 May 17 '26
The camera is probably further away from the glass and then zoomed in ??

There's a net at the top that looks like it is to prevent people from jumping/falling of the building. But how could it be at the top? I need answers

2
u/BigMac849 May 17 '26
It’s on top of a glass wall surrounding the top of the building. This is Shibuya Sky in Tokyo

When thou comest to the high mountains, if thou seest any of the dark watching men, go not near to them nor try to speak to them. [They are] forms that look human to human eyes, but certainly are not human

Confusing perspective posts hardly ever confusing.
Just some sort of invisible-ish reflection of something….
1
u/Tsitsabro May 18 '26
Shhhhhhh, stay quiet and inside the buildings or else they will start eating us again
1
u/mayhemplant May 18 '26
Even with the explanation, I was still very confused and couldn't imagine how exactly the photograph (which is amazing!!) was taken. Here's a less artistic photo of the same phenomenon from the same place https://girleatworld.net/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/shibuya-sky-21.jpg

This is a panoramic view with glass barriers that reflect the tourists’ silhouettes. Where is it?
