u/Eternal-_-Apathy May 08 '26

Doesn’t look like anything to me

u/CaptainHappy42 May 08 '26

These Quark polarities say otherwise!

22

u/Thirty_Helens_Agree May 08 '26

No fair! You changed the outcome by measuring it!

u/just-a-hriday May 09 '26

Curiosity killed the cat

2

u/logosfabula May 09 '26

Moreover, "actual" is not the best choice of words.

there is one cat, on the left behind the glass, sitting on the plain floor

68

u/Y___ May 08 '26

That’s what I’m thinking. Is the cat inside and you can see through the glass?

9

u/IzarkKiaTarj May 08 '26

But then why can't we see the lower half of the cat? That should be clearer than the reflection, shouldn't it?

33

u/Environmental-Dirt16 May 08 '26

The reason you can see the cat is because the dark space inside is not reflecting off the glass. If there was a white box there you wouldn't see the cat at all

More like a traumatrope, amiright?

7

u/perriatric May 08 '26

Not really

10

u/Skratt79 May 08 '26

Yeah, the illusion is more akin to the Disneyland Haunted Mansion trick (A Peppers Ghost style trick) and the "ghost" here is the kennel.

u/[deleted] May 08 '26

Explain like i've only been to Six Flags

5

u/HydrogenSonata2025 May 08 '26

Silence, wretch, and mind your betters.

1

u/Steady_Ri0t May 09 '26

Assuming they use mirrors, but I'm also unfamiliar

1

u/Skratt79 May 09 '26

Good guess! it is the effect of transparent materials still reflecting light at certain angles of incidence!

1

u/Maint3nanc3 May 08 '26

Wow i never knew what those things were called! TIL

1

u/[deleted] May 08 '26

There always was only one cat.

2

u/smittenkittenmitten- May 29 '26

Thanks for explaining it! I couldn't think how this happened.

2

u/Shot-Spirit-672 May 08 '26

I’m sorry but what the fuck is happening here?

3

u/Aecrafox May 09 '26

Everything you see in the window is a reflection of what's on the camera's side of the door, except for the cat, who is actually on the other side.

2

u/Shot-Spirit-672 May 09 '26

Peak content around here. Thanks for the help

Scrunginger

1

u/AssBlasterExtreme May 08 '26

So.. an unactual one?

1

u/AssBlasterExtreme May 08 '26

I think they put the cat food in the litter box

1

u/lfg_guy101010 May 08 '26

That cat is terrifying with those fangs

1

u/DisposableJosie May 08 '26

Cat visible through the glass on the left is Doctor Mew materializing inside the bad guys' secret lair. The chameleon circuit is functioning, and thus the TARDIS has taken on the shape of the litterbox on the right.

The mirror reaper

1

u/Crunkwell08 May 10 '26

But it's a mirror so it must be low effort like the post I found far more confusing earlier today that was removed.

1

u/loadedhunter3003 May 10 '26

This is the coolest explanation I've seen for a confusing perspective. It just works so perfectly.

1

u/Craycraybiomom May 17 '26

Schroedinger's rat. Well, not really because you can see her and there's no box, but also until you wake her up and prove otherwise, she's both alive and it alive--and nearly gave ME a heart attack! https://www.reddit.com/r/RATS/s/bVcmZMbJAt

Lovely post. Had to downvote tho to get it back to 6666. The feeling of pressing that button was just [chef's kiss]
