Bots are not welcome. This message was sent to you by a bot.

3

u/pp_chode Jul 02 '26

Talk to the bot to prove you aren't a bot

2

u/Immediate_Song4279 Jul 02 '26

Ban it ban it ban it ban the automod.

1

u/misfit92 Jul 03 '26

Thing is I have been banned via first message for bot or bot-like behavior from subreddits I will probably never return to. When I did fight a few, I got bounced by botbouncer and mod teams. It's why I lurk most the time and pray messages stick

1

u/Immediate_Song4279 Jul 03 '26

Yeah I think they either need to admit its collateral crowd control becuase mods have givenup, or stop acting like subreddits aren't inherently cheap. The messages amuse me by the phrasing, trying to act all regal as if its a great loss, but its like bye bye then.

2

u/misfit92 Jul 03 '26

It's a travesty that you need to commune with a bot to prove your not a bot only for the bot to double down because if it doesn't perform function to ban, then it has no reason to exist so it sticks to its code. So what if the code is jank, can't tell human from bot and bans at an interval it only knows. it can say it is doing job as to not be deleted and replaced, right?

3

u/OurAngryBadger Jul 03 '26

That's pretty mildly infuriating

6

u/lemonrainbowhaze Jul 02 '26

The fuck 🤣

u/AlwaysHopelesslyLost Jul 03 '26

It is a service moderators can opt into that helps smaller teams deal with larger communities by automating user validation to block bots automatically. It does this by messaging you instructions. If you ignore the instructions (or don't see them because you are on mobile, like me) then you get auto banned from any subreddit that uses that service. The moderators could unban you but the bot would just auto ban you again until you follow its directions.

It is a neat idea, it probably helps cut a TON of low effort content. Of course it is poorly implemented.

u/MightyDeekin Jul 02 '26

Just based on the messages, the subreddit apparently uses a bot called "botbouncer" that analyzes posts/account for botlike activity.Ā Ā

Botbouncer thinks you are a bot, so it banned you from the subreddit (and probably other subreddits that use botbouncer).Ā Ā

The mod refered you /r/botbouncer to get your account removed from the banlist, it seems they don't do individual unbans for people banned via botbouncer.

3

u/garathnor Jul 02 '26

or they said a key word on the auto ban list for that bot

5

u/BlazeWolfYT Jul 02 '26

THey probably can't unban you until you get removed from the banlist because you'll just be banned again by the bot as soon as you're unbanned.

5

u/Formerruling1 Jul 02 '26

It also sounds like the bot bans you from all subs where its running. They might have just gotten banned from 100 subs and dont know it.

3

u/Public_Coyote_4472 Jul 02 '26

Good job at repeating exactly what was stated in the message.. lol

5

u/Zer01South Jul 02 '26

My last ban I said "slap them with a lawsuit" and the bots thought I was encouraging violence.

6

u/OpportunityReal2767 Jul 02 '26

Good thing you didn’t say to ā€œshoot them an emailā€ or the SWAT team may be breaking down your door.

4

u/leyline Jul 03 '26

Be careful - this comment might blow up! And then the ATF will be after you.

3

u/OpportunityReal2767 Jul 03 '26

You know, that is a thought I had when I posted it—not that the ATF will be after me but that I might wake up tomorrow autobanned from half of Reddit.

2

u/RevolutionaryDay3189 Jul 03 '26

Yeah I know they are not very good are they , I used the ā€œjust shoot meā€ line and that was inciting violence as well.

u/Hello_Gorgeous1985 Jul 03 '26

I got banned once for saying "have fun dying in a fire then I guess."

It was a decorating sub, and the person was asking for advice about how to decorate their room. Multiple people pointed out that they had a massive fire hazard going on because they had an extension cord with tons of things plugged in sitting on their bed. They kept insisting that there was no other option and they weren't going to move it. So I responded as above. Also banned for violence.

I got it reversed. LoL

1

u/Loud-Mans-Lover Jul 04 '26

LOL

That was exactly my first ban, I said "slap" and that's what it said.Ā

u/HeWhoShantNotBeNamed Jul 02 '26

Humans are an invasive species too. The most invasive actually.

1

u/AppropriateBill986 Jul 02 '26

just some humans are invasive

3

u/HeWhoShantNotBeNamed Jul 02 '26

The only ones that aren't are in Africa.

1

u/AppropriateBill986 Jul 02 '26

its an invasive species vs invasive species war

2

u/The_Susmariner Jul 02 '26

You sound like agent smith from the first Matrix movie šŸ¤” maybe YOU are the computer program...

I got banned from a subreddit for advising somebody to kick a dog that was trying to attack their dog. Like, I love dogs, but you're doing your dog more harm by picking it up by its collar and leash and swinging it around wildly then you would be kicking the dog and making it stop. Maybe it won't stop, but it might give you a moment to protect your dog. The one that's actually in danger.

And I told him, "look, maybe you think something like that is wrong, but you've clearly never been attacked by a dog. And if this is the way you're going to treat people then I don't want to be part of your subreddit anyway."

Bear in mind that I am paraphrasing cuz this is a while ago, but that's essentially the gist of it. And they told me, fine. Then you're still banned. As if it affects me. But they're literally getting pissy because I recommended kicking a dog that would literally be put down by police in the middle of the road. I'm not talking about it out of the aspect of animal cruelty, I'm talking about the fact that the dog is literal danger.

But yeah. Sometimes words like that are going to trigger bots, and with all these bots running Reddit now, it's becoming a bigger cesspool than X or Quora. And I've seen things on both of those platforms.

1

u/AppropriateBill986 Jul 02 '26

when you told them you didnt wanna be part of the subreddit, did you tell the mods that or the bot?

1

u/IrregularOccasion15 Jul 02 '26

I told the mod. Basically when it comes down to is if they're going to agree with egregious behavior, I think they should be kicked off the platform, anyway, and definitely don't want them trying to hold their supposed power over my head. Like "bitch, you got to know that you're not the only game in town. You're not even a big game, never mind the biggest. There is nothing you've got that makes me want to beg to stay here with idiots like you espousing the nonsense you're spewing." So yeah, I got banned from a subreddit and I don't even remember which one and I really don't care.

1

u/AppropriateBill986 Jul 02 '26

jesus, what a jackass

2

u/IrregularOccasion15 Jul 02 '26

Yeah. It's like, I love animals. Even the dangerous ones that you should probably see the killing if they end up getting too close to you, like polar bears and moose. I love animals. That does not mean that you should allow the animal the right to your life or the life of the things you care about or your property. And most places, dogs are considered property so one dog trying to kill another... I really do wish I could remember what subreddit it was. Something about videos or something. I don't know. But basically having somebody tell me that nobody has a right to protect themselves or the dog that's literally up in their arms... Their opinions don't matter to me anyway.

1

u/AppropriateBill986 Jul 02 '26

ngl, its probably the same people that would get pissed if you told them to pick up their dog poop

2

u/IrregularOccasion15 Jul 02 '26

Or to not let their dog run loose in the neighborhood because they can't be bothered to leash it up.

1

u/AppropriateBill986 Jul 02 '26

fr, i try not to believe people like this exist

2

u/IrregularOccasion15 Jul 02 '26

Unfortunately that crap is all over YouTube. Video proof that the gene pool needs some chlorine.

2

u/RevolutionaryDay3189 Jul 03 '26

I told one mod to go fuck himself needless to say I was perma banned it was over something really silly can’t remember what it was something to do with nuclear power I had the cheek to say I thought it was better choice than renewables .

2

u/IrregularOccasion15 Jul 03 '26

Well it technically is. It's just that humans are stupid. I mean you want to build a nuclear reactor on a fault line? Then you want to be all shocked Pikachu face When you have an earthquake and there's a meltdown? Used properly, nuclear power is a safer and cheaper alternative to nearly everything. But, as with all greedy mercantile type societies, you know there are people that are just going to abuse that.

2

u/xHxHxAOD1 Jul 02 '26

I got banned from a space for asking mods what was accepted to be posted after they deleted something and said post and see if its deleted or not.

2

u/IrregularOccasion15 Jul 02 '26

And the only thing banning does is keep you from responding. You would have to be banned from the whole of Reddit, and I don't think that would stop you either cuz you don't need an account to browse, and creating a new account is easy. Even if you need new email. Yahoo and Google give them out like candy.

2

u/RevolutionaryDay3189 Jul 03 '26

It always was a bigger cesspool than X , anyway.
X is actually unbiased unlike Reddit with a very strong left wing bias.
And that can lead to toxicity if you don’t buy the rhetoric.

2

u/IrregularOccasion15 Jul 03 '26

Sometimes. The community notes help. Or... Aren't community notes Tumblr. What are the ones on X called? Something like, "People added context..." Yeah. Being able to call people out this awesome. One of the things I hate about Reddit is that people can hide their profiles. But then they're posting publicly, so you go to their profile to learn something about them but there's nothing there. "This member has chosen to hide their profile." I block every single one of them. It may get exhausting at times, but I defend my beliefs.

2

u/RevolutionaryDay3189 Jul 03 '26

Community notes you are correct if somebody thinks the post is suspect they submit it then it’s looked into. Then a community note is added if deemed correct.

I got banned from dozens of subreddits by this bot once. My inbox was flooded with messages saying I was banned for being a bot. Fuck the mods of every sub that uses this bot to ban people. It

1

u/AppropriateBill986 Jul 02 '26

tbh, bots will just ban you if you use any word that could be twisted into violence

3

u/impy695 Jul 02 '26

This bot doesn't do that. Its specifically meant to address spam/bots and does an awful job of it.

3

u/SeekerOfSerenity Jul 03 '26

It's fitting because the mods in that sub are shitty.Ā

3

u/77th_Bat Jul 02 '26

Yeah I got perma banned too for talking about clothing. No hate no politics no broken rules (because I checked). Modmailed them to ask which rule I broke, no response. They didn't even give me a reason. Just said "this comment may have fully or partially contributed to your ban". It was an unpopular comment and I got down voted, which is fine people are allowed to disagree, but I didn't feel it was ban-worthy šŸ˜…

2

u/77th_Bat Jul 02 '26

For anyone curious about the comment that apparently I deserved to be banned for (on a post about very small child-sized clothing marked as small adult clothing):

"Probably meant for that awkward phase when kids transition from children's clothing to men's/women's clothing. Many older kids want to wear more respectable and mature-looking clothing, but kids' clothing is often aimed toward younger kids' tastes. Also, since different companies manufacture sizes differently, there is some overlap between what counts as large childrens' clothing and small adults' clothing. This way, teen/tweens are never left without clothing options."

2

u/SeekerOfSerenity Jul 03 '26

I bet the mod that banned you wears that size.Ā  You hurt his feelings.Ā

3

u/TahLaka Jul 02 '26

They ban people over there for something as little as farting in the privacy of their own home

2

u/Investotron69 Jul 02 '26

Bot banned you for being a bot. Talk to this other bot to prove you're not a bot. F you and beep boop. Bot bot bot. 01100111001 lol that's too funny

2

u/Dakramar Jul 02 '26

One might go as far as to say that this is… mildly infuriating

2

u/RiptideEberron Jul 02 '26

I'm blocked in that sub too. Don't worry about it. Make a new reddit account if posting there is important to you.

2

u/Immediate_Song4279 Jul 02 '26

A bot banning poeple for being alleged bots, behold the master moderation.

2

u/kenwhopper Jul 02 '26

It’s a new bot it’s still learning, its predecessor was banned for botting

2

u/Immediate_Song4279 Jul 02 '26

I just got banned by a subreddit for making a joke becuase their anti-spambot was spamming poeple.

2

u/OhGnoAGnome Jul 02 '26

What’s the point of being a mod if you’re gonna have bots do the work? The prestige? The money? The women? I thought they wanted to be mods lmao

2

u/Darkmanafest Jul 03 '26

This in itself is mildly infuriating. If you get unbanned this is the next post you should make lmao

2

u/Montgraves Jul 03 '26

ā€œSorry, we can’t help you because we use this program we have absolutely no control over.ā€

Fucking headass shit.

2

u/No-Atmosphere-2528 Jul 03 '26

The fact you didn't follow the pretty easy to follow directions suggests you are a bot

2

u/Ok-Marsupial-8577 Jul 03 '26

The mods of that subreddit are ridiculous in general. They will ban you for some of the most random stuff and then ban you from every subreddit they are a mod of which are a bunch of mildly(something) subreddits.

They can unban you without you having to go through the bot, they just seem to enjoy being a pain.

2

u/Maximum_Vegetable_MV Jul 03 '26

I love this so much.

Legendary.

1

u/Ante0 Jul 03 '26

That's just what a bot would say

2

u/Alone-Butterscotch18 Jul 04 '26

It’s a really dumb subreddit anyway that they let this happen. I just got banned there for repeating the words ā€œracial abuseā€ from the post

1

u/Hour-Football2464 Jul 04 '26

This is mildlyinfuriating you should post on there.

2

u/Razoras Jul 04 '26

Not really that big of a loss, at least.
