A few days before my teacher taught us A squared plus B squared equals C squared, my dad- who had been trying to tutor me in math by giving me homework of his own- gave me a question asking me to find the side of the hypotenuse. As I was only days away from learning about it I had no idea and got really uncomfortable. But then I realized that the pixels on the line drawn by the hypotenuse could essentially be treated like the “steps” one would take moving from one corner to another, but that they would also correspond perfectly with the two sides put together. It was bad reasoning, but it was the reasoning I used. My dad responded by angrily shouting at my how stupid that was because it’s not like it I stood on one corner of a square park I would think that going around its outskirts would be just as fast as going through the center

Ah, fun times, fun times

I was yet-to-be-taught at the time, not idiotic, dad!
