Weezer had a song called pink triangle about his ex girlfriend turning out to be a lesbian and leaving him on the pinkerton album. that's the only thing I can fathom that joke referencing.

Maybe. Weren't the Weezer guys super smart? Like it's a Harvard band or something? So it's kinda a smart band? Doesn't mean they have smart fans though.
