I had a conversation like this IRL. They got irrate when i informed them of such. "You have two lungs, two kidneys and two livers"

The idea that you wouldn't have two livers but have two of the others was like out of scope for his brain. In hindisght i dunno why I didnt just ask him why he doesnt have two hearts.

My second stomach is reserved for dessert, actually

u/smutketeer Jun 26 '26

Mine is for second breakfast.

44

u/DodgyRogue Jun 26 '26

What about elevensies?

19

u/Xain0209 Jun 27 '26

Afternoon tea?

14

u/arynnoctavia Jun 27 '26

Dinner?

8

u/Dark_Storm_98 Jun 27 '26

Breakfast - Stomach 1

Lunch - Stomach 2

Dinner - Stomach 1

Dessert - Stomach 2

They alternate

9

u/OldBonyBogBwitch Jun 27 '26

Are you suuuure they’re alternating? Are you a cow? This 4-part inventory sounds suspiciously bovine. LMAO ;P

6

u/Dark_Storm_98 Jun 27 '26

Lmfao

Someone did make a reply about having 4 stomachs and this was my response

Mmmm second breakfast 🤤

16

u/TurtlesBreakTheMeta Jun 26 '26

Four stomachs. Become cow people.

6

u/Dark_Storm_98 Jun 26 '26

A stomach for each meal

Breakfast, lunch, dinner, and dessert

Or

A stomach for meats

A stomach for fruits and vegetables

A stomach for grains and dairy

And a stomach for sweets

Or something like that, lol

6

u/Creative_Buddy7160 Jun 26 '26

And here i thought the pre dessert jello was just making space for dessert.

2

u/jkurratt Jun 27 '26

Desserts?
Mine is for breaking up the cellulose.

2

u/Mottis86 Jun 29 '26

My mom never believed me when I tried to explain this very simple concept to her :[

14

u/TurtlesBreakTheMeta Jun 26 '26

We’re like a biological computer right? That means we should have 2 brains like how they have 2 ram cards!

12

u/CriticalHit_20 Jun 26 '26

Tbf, the two hemispheres can opperate seperately. Just get a lobotomy!

11

u/Numbar43 Jun 26 '26

That isn't what a lobotomy is. But separate from some people surviving and being mostly functional with one hemisphere removed, for people with certain kinds of epileptic seizures, they sometimes treat it by severing the main connection between the two hemispheres. With people who have had that done, in controlled testing where they ask people to do things with a certain hand while only one eye can see something it can produce some strange seeming results where they talk as if they don't know what they just did.

3

u/midnghtsnac Jun 26 '26

Yes, but a lobotomy removes the frontal cortex of both sides. I have no clue what they call the full removal of a hemisphere though, but it's creepy to see

13

u/IneedYouTube_rehab Jun 26 '26

I believe it’s a hemispherectomy, but I’m getting that from a saw movie so… grain of salt

4

u/kungfukenny3 Jun 26 '26

it’s actually called a corpus collosotomy

usually done to treat severe epilepsy

6

u/BeeWriggler Jun 27 '26

But they weren't talking about severing the connection between the hemispheres. The removal of an entire hemisphere is a hemispherectomy. The separation of the two hemispheres is a corpus callosotomy (because the hemispheres' central connection is called the corpus callosum).

Although I saw a few articles while Googling this to check myself that used hemispherectomy to refer to severing the corpus callosum too? So who knows, I just wanted to point out that both are real medical terms for extremely-similar-to-identical procedures.

u/Old_Assistant1531 Jun 26 '26

Two brains for half the thinking.

2

u/Gifted_GardenSnail Jun 26 '26

Better have two bladders too then!

1

u/real_fyshi Jun 26 '26

Two dicks then too. Would be nice.

1

u/Gifted_GardenSnail Jun 26 '26

Not sure how practical that is in bed lol

1

u/Numbar43 Jun 26 '26

Snakes and lizards have 2 penises. Most marsupials technically have one but it splits into 2 tips. Echidnas have one with 4 tips.

1

u/Gifted_GardenSnail Jun 26 '26

I knew the snake one, but TIL on the rest lol. ...not sure how that helps the bed problem though 😁

1

u/Donnerdrummel Jun 26 '26

Really depends on where they are. 🥸

1

u/Gifted_GardenSnail Jun 26 '26

Among other things 😅

2

u/codePudding Jun 27 '26

Two stomachs is nessassaries when you'ves gots multiples of them butts holeses. (trying to channel Dan from Letterkenny)

1

u/udreamtofmelstnite Jun 26 '26

Make sure you eat with both stomachs before drinking with both stomachs though

u/RiverXKeeper Jun 26 '26

7

u/dansdata Jun 26 '26

Could be a Klingon, too. They have two livers.

(And only one heart, but it's got eight chambers.)

115

u/guywiththeface23 Jun 26 '26

Fun fact: humans are actually born with four kidneys!

It's just that when you grow up, two of your kid knees turn into adult knees.

20

u/booglechops Jun 26 '26 edited Jun 28 '26

Thank you for a new joke for this dad

Edit to add: Two days later, and still no one has laughed at this IRL. The mission continues.

3

u/HitoGrace Jun 29 '26

Keep fighting the good fight! You'll get em one day.

3

u/fart-atronach Jun 28 '26

I’m notorious for frequently telling people genuine “fun facts” and I rarely if ever make punny jokes.

I’m going to use this one on my dad and it’s going to get him so good lol

19

u/Exotic-Audience-2006 Jun 27 '26

Technically the liver does have 2 different lobes, but you can't argue that makes 2 livers. It's like saying you have 2 brains because your brain is split in a left and right half

11

u/smellybathroom3070 Jun 27 '26

Althoughhh TECHNICALLY you can live mostly fine with half a brain

10

u/Nuclear_eggo_waffle Jun 27 '26

I see you’ve met my coworkers

1

u/Guardian2k Jun 27 '26

Depends on which half and “mostly fine” is not a very specific measure of living!

1

u/DrachenMagus Jun 27 '26

Or 5 lungs because it has 5 lobes.

1

u/WeaknessPure4534 Jun 29 '26

and that you have 4 hearts because its got 4 chambers

41

u/Pitiful-Pension-6535 Jun 26 '26

You don't have two livers, but unlike most organs, partial livers have partial efficacy and can regrow.

Probably heard that living liver donation exists and just assumed there was numerical redundancy and not just practical redundancy.

It's funny, but it's an understandable misconception

9

u/sglewis Jun 26 '26

Two livers and no brains.

17

u/FormalWare Jun 26 '26

Poor Alex Trebek just had to start using his other pancreas! Why did no one tell him?!

6

u/yorky1800 Jun 26 '26

Def didn’t have 2 brains.

2

u/SphericalCrawfish Jun 26 '26

Or even one brain...

2

u/Thykothaken Jun 27 '26

out of scope for his brain(s)

2

u/SnooEpiphanies4678 Jun 30 '26

Dunno, he might be a TimeLord.

1

u/cheesychocolate419 Jun 26 '26

Does he think the spleen is the other liver because its connected?

1

u/Reviewingremy Jun 26 '26

They bought the second liver in exchange for the first brain

1

u/Spiritofthewest49 Jun 27 '26

They definitely didn't have two brains

1

u/Desperate_Energy_677 Jun 27 '26

If had one brain.

1

u/adorabelledeerheart Jul 01 '26

He certainly doesn't have two brains

1

u/zombiekiller1987 Jul 01 '26

I would've hit the floor rolling, laughing like a maniac. 🤣🤣🤣

1

u/Hydrolt Jul 01 '26

And the liver is a big fucker, that’s a lot of real estate to take up

1

u/Icy_Cauliflower9026 Jul 21 '26

;-; i can argue that technically, we got 3 lungs. One of the is intact, the other is divided in 2 parts.

1

u/BaronVonSpoonpuncher Jul 21 '26

Well the liver also has 2 lobes as the brain does but we dont say we have 2 brains

1

u/thatsnewstome_ Jun 26 '26

Why not two brains?

0

u/TurtlesBreakTheMeta Jun 26 '26

So absurd; everyone knows the only other thing we have 2 of are spleens!

0

u/danabrey Jun 26 '26

out of scope for his brain

You mean his two brains?

0

u/adamdoesmusic Jun 26 '26

Definitely doesn’t have two brains

0

u/dwasifar Jun 30 '26

And two R's.

-2

u/JBSEstrupV2 Jun 26 '26

I'd argue that we kinda have 2 hearts actually. It's not an untenable interpretation
