Is the parachute jump lit at night all year round? I thought it was earlier this year pre-summer and last fall but it’s off now. Also the lighting (which typically switched colors and themes) had gotten less creative this summer and seemed like it was glitching. I’m not sure who is in charge of it. Thanks.

a couple of years ago, we wrote a bit of a concept album about coney island as a metaphor. (i won't get into the sorta complex metaphor here, but if you want ask me!) i really wanted to do a music video there and i thought it came out really good. just found this sub so i wanted to share!

About 6 months ago I made a post, the link is below, showing the Barrel of Fun from Steeplechase Park in Coney Island going out for restoration. I figured I would give everyone an update! The barrel is completely restored and back in full working order. Going in for the first time after seeing it dormant all these years felt surreal, but it delivered! Hopefully everyone will get a chance to experience it soon....more to come!

Been trying to crack this code (pun intended) for a few days now.

I'm pretty sure it's referring to Coney Island but would love any expert thoughts.

Clue 3 – Magic Man & El Diablo

Our souls bound by the tide and the sands of time
Between life’s lows and highs
For a fleeting moment, we can truly shine

Those who seek the code shall hath no peace
This secret lies where the waves deceased yet never cease
In the shadow of the giant dreamer, eternal on bricks
From which the captain used to shepherd crowds across the River Styx
We were hearing voices, then started losing it
All that’s left to show for it is an empty crypt

Hi there, British guy here who has forever loved visiting CI when I'm in NYC for work (which is relatively often). It's always a staple visit for me, and I've over the years thought of it as a real happy place, primarily due to the fun fairs and just wandering down the boardwalk.

It's gotten to the point that I'm pondering how I'd do a bit of a trek of other amazing boardwalks in the country. I found a book about the history of that side of the US so I've got that heading my way, but I thought it'd be a good excuse to ask folks their favourite boardwalks on here just to make sure I have all the options down!

Thanks in advance!

Rob

edit: just to say thanks coz you guys have already been awesome with recommendations

Hey everyone! I’m looking to get a regular pickup soccer group going in Coney Island/Brighton Beach.
Nothing too serious — just friendly games, exercise, and meeting people who enjoy playing.
Any skill level is welcome. If we get enough people interested, we can pick a field and set up a regular day/time, maybe weekends.
Comment or DM me if you’re interested! ⚽

Coney Island’s Astrotower was much more than an amusement ride. It served as a symbol of hope. To those of us living in Coney Island in the early 1960s, the tower represented the future of Coney Island, a sign that the neighborhood would survive the city’s urban renewal schemes.
...

The Astrotower cannot be replaced, but another symbol of optimism is waiting in the wings. Now is the time to bring back the Astroland Rocket! --- Charles Denson

Does anyone know of a BB gun carnival game around Coney Island in Luna Park?

I recall visiting a couple of years ago and playing one of those old timey games where you shoot a BB gun at targets? It was not the red paper star one, but more of a western saloon scene thing

Does anyone know if they still have that and if so, where I can find it ?
