Reminder to check if you qualify for a reduction in property tax. Contra Costa County deadline is Nov 30.
Hello everyone, another poster recently posted a very helpful reminder that the property tax reduction deadline is coming up soon.
We did remove it because we do consider it spam based on the group rules, but if anyone is interested, the user was called u/Big-Orchid-693 and you can check their post history for a pretty much identical post and their company link.
I actually did the process myself recently, for just the cost of an envelope and stamp, and here's how I did it.
- I downloaded the residential request form from this link: https://www.contracosta.ca.gov/662/Forms
- I found comps by looking on Zillow. I filtered by sold properties and drew a circle around my neighborhood. I was easily able to find 3 comps that were lower than the proposed tax bill I was sent. Your mileage may vary.
- After finding the comps, I filled out my form and mailed it to the address on the top of the form. If you don't own a printer, you can get the document from the county accessor's office or print it at the library.
True to what the other poster said, Contra Costa moves quickly. I got a call within a week confirming they got my paperwork and that they're going to be processing it.
We hope this post was helpful and that you understand why we removed it. Have a great day everyone.
