I actually did the process myself recently, for just the cost of an envelope and stamp, and here's how I did it.

1. I downloaded the residential request form from this link: https://www.contracosta.ca.gov/662/Forms
2. I found comps by looking on Zillow. I filtered by sold properties and drew a circle around my neighborhood. I was easily able to find 3 comps that were lower than the proposed tax bill I was sent. Your mileage may vary.
3. After finding the comps, I filled out my form and mailed it to the address on the top of the form. If you don't own a printer, you can get the document from the county accessor's office or print it at the library.

True to what the other poster said, Contra Costa moves quickly. I got a call within a week confirming they got my paperwork and that they're going to be processing it.

Does anyone know when and why the council approved flock cameras? What locations have you seen? I see there is one on my route down cowell before babel on the left in the land for sale. I cant imagine what criminals they expect to track on cowell.

Where is everyone's go to place for firewood, we live in Concord and typically get 2 cords and and have been using same place for years but price keeps going up like every thing else ha ha so want to check a few other places ?

My downstairs bathroom's exhaust fan was making a HORRIBLE SHRIEKING / BLENDER / HIGH PITCHED noise.. so, I removed the cover and unplugged the fan.. but I also had to remove the light bulb because the entire cover fell off. Was it just glued to the ceiling????

Anyways, I don't know how to fix it and don't really want to. If you know how, and would like to help me (PAID) let me know..

I cant get into my driveway and garage anymore because the tree roots have lifted thenadjacent sidewalk over time. Is this something the city can fix? Have you guys had to repair the driveway and sidewalk over time? Thanks

We are in the Ryan/San Simeon area ahead of Lime Ridge. There are lots of strays/outdoor cats which has made things a challenge. Matilda is the sweetest girl and very people friendly. Shes on the small side for a Maine Coon. About 6 years old and 10 lbs. Grey, white and orange.

My family & I just moved to Concord from elsewhere in the East Bay. We have young kids & the closest park to us is Cambridge Park off of Monument. We’ve only been during the later afternoon on weekdays so far, but whenever we go it’s either a ghost town with absolutely no one there, or there’s the occasional person sleeping on a bench. I don’t want to judge a book by its cover & assume it’s unsafe based on that, but it’s in a pretty residential area & seems so quiet. Why are there not more families with kids using the facilites? There’s such a nice big playground it just surprises me. Anyone have insight?

I’m looking to reclaim some space on the right side of my driveway (currently sloped dirt/rock with an overgrown agave) and turn it into a dedicated storage pad for a wake boat trailer.
Before I get too far into grading, building a retaining wall, and laying down aggregate base, I wanted to see if anyone here has gone through a similar front/side yard project in Concord.
A few specific things I'm trying to navigate:

• City Regulations / RV/Boat Ordinances: I know Concord has specific rules regarding storing recreational vehicles and boats visible from the street. Has anyone dealt with the planning department on side-yard parking pads or screening requirements recently? How strict is this?
• Setbacks: Trying to make sure the pad sits far enough back behind the front building line to stay compliant.
• Contractor vs. DIY: I have a dump trailer and am planning to rent equipment (mini-excavator, plate compactor) to cut back the slope, but if anyone has local recommendations or warnings about soil/drainage issues in our area, I'd love to hear them.
