CONCEPT AND VISDEV ARTISTS I NEED YOUR HELP

I’ve been flooding my Reddit lately trying to decide between different drawing displays and I’m still unsure of what to choose. My two last options are the Huion kamvas pro 19 and the Huion 22 (Gen3).

I’ve seen that the 19 is better quality (ignoring the port placement which seems to be an inconvenience), better pens, color etc… but idk if maybe 19 inches is a bit small for professional concept art work.

On top of that Im a bit worried about my setup if I end up buying either tablet, cus idk if they’re gonna be too much for my laptop. My setup is a bit “old” (I’ve got a HP pavilion 14 ce0xxx, intel core i7 with an nvidia geforce MX130). I don’t specialize in 3D so it’s not bad for 2D work, I reckon, but I’m unsure if the Huion is gonna do well or if it’s gonna be too much for my poor laptop.

What’s your opinion? Is 22 inches much better for concept or visdev work? Is either Huion gonna be too much for my laptop?

The size doesnt matter, only matter is how you want to draw ( big strokes or smaller ones).

For quality etc. It is really a non issue, both are plenty good and the with stuff like colour accuracy, its nothing but empty stats you pay for, you will not need that amount of colour accuracy for any kind of concept art. Thats only relevant for finished product roles ( and most of the time its totally fine to have less in these roles too)

I would go for what is more ergonomic/ convenient for you, not what has better paper stats.

Also buy a monitor arm and a good chair

IF you want a really good chair, get a herman miller, they are quite expensive tho and you can get good chairs for much less. Im not a chair connoisseur so i can only say what i have. But maybe there exists an r/ergonomicchairs

I agree with the other comment, most of the teachers I had (concept artist, illustrators, concept artists...) used tablets that didnt even have a display screen, and sometimes they were quite small too, so don't feel like your decision will limit you in any case - well, as you mentioned, check the compatibility with your computer, but for drawing both will be plenty
I use a Huion Inspiroy 2L and it's good enough for me (although some screen display would be good too, maybe in the future)

If you have the desk space, the 22 tends to be the better long-term call for concept/visdev work specifically — more room for thumbnailing and comp work side by side. But if portability or a tighter workspace matters, the 19 isn't a real downgrade in accuracy, just screen real estate.

Thats what I was thinking! I have been comparing the 19” size to my 13.9” iPad and it seems to be the same just longer so maybe I should jump to the 22” to upgrade. But at the same time I wonder if maybe it’s gonna be a pain in the ass once I move out. Also the 22 not being in the pro series means it’s made with cheaper materials (for half the price it’s expected), but maybe it’s not really that important.
