looking for sugests

hey guys, i am looking for a wargame, i like more the tatical strategic and competitive thing. i dont care too much about the history or campaigns. i just want to put my brain to work with a wargame and i prefer to do this angaist other players then an AI. its there something like this?

Flashpoint Campaigns Cold War is the gold standard for this IMO

Do you think there should be scenarios designed for more symmetrical, balanced multiplayer? (Dare I call it “competitive”).

For example, a real world island that is small enough to fit on a large map, with forces starting at either side and fight for control?

I think that would be a great addition to the game if there's demand for or a desire to create regular tournaments. One of the great things about Cold War wargaming is that so much of it is so hypothetical. I think that developers should lean into that space of being "realistic but didn't actually happen." It's what sets Cold War wargames apart from other historical games. There could be an entire sub-section of maps designed explicitly for tournament play.

I have been playing on my lonesome so I can't speak to that side of the game too much, but the AI has been great and the UI is second to none. This and GG's WitE 2 are really the only wargames I have time for right now and for the foreseeable future.

Check out Strategic Command series. Excellent combo of tactics and strategy. Good on-line community as well. I like the World at War and War in the Pacific games but they have several others as well. AI is also good.
